Measurements of Kinematic Properties of the Cervical Spine Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
This paper presents kinematic data on the cervical and upper thoracic spine, based on measurements made on 20 Scandinavian healthy, female volunteers, aged 22-58 years (mean age 40.4). The aim was to provide anatomical in vivo data, primarily intended as data for biomechanical modelling of the upper spine. Together with the measurements of standard anthropometric body dimensions, magnetic resonanc

Analysis and selection of control variables and structures for the Open Plate Reactor
In this paper the choices of control variables and control structures are investigated for the Open Plate Reactor. Since the process design is very flexible, it allows many different control structures and variables and it may be non-trivial to find the most suitable choice. Analysis with the Relative Gain Array indicates that the flexible process configuration of the OPR enables a decentralized c
Doctoral student supervisor or project leader – or both?
Doctoral education in the fields of medicine and health sciences is often deeply integrated with the research of departments and of individual researchers. Although this arrangement undoubtedly comes with many benefits it could also be expected to raise challenges for doctoral student learning and supervision. Here I report on findings from workshops for research supervisors at a large Swedish med

Practical approaches to channel estimation and interference suppression for OFDM based UWB communications
Ultra-wideband (UWB) communication is a potential technique for future high-speed networks. In this paper, we investigate low complexity signal detection approaches for OFDM based UWB systems. In particular, we develop practical approaches for channel estimation and interference suppression. Computer simulation results show that these techniques can be effectively used in OFDM based UWB systems fo
