Required Capabilities in a Logistics Relationship - A Case Study
This paper studies a newly developing relationship of closer collaboration between a buyer and supplier of a low complexity product, which cannot be considered strategic but of high volume, in the grocery retailing industry, The reason for studying this relationship is that the buyer has decided to go through with is program aimed at establishing is closer relationship with the supplier in the ca

Air flows in a school with fan-assisted natural ventilation, with the focus on the opening of the exhaust windows
In schools the air flow is one of the most important factors with regard to the well-being and performance of the children. Some school buildings have a fan assisted natural ventilation system. In some buildings windows are the only exhaust air component. The teachers can be requested to take an active part in the control of these ventilation systems. The objective is to examine the air flows and

Influence of cisplatin on RNA structure in solution Escherichia coli tRNA(Ala) and human Wnt-5a 3' UTR model system studies
Popular Abstract in Swedish Studierna i denna avhandling behandlar hur anticancer preparatet cisplatin påverkar RNA strukturen. För att visa att strukturella förändringar kan hämma viktiga funktioner i cellen har två RNA modellsystem valts i) tRNAAla (specifikt för aminosyran alanin) från bakterien Escherichia coli och ii) en modell som representerar ett humant proteins 3' UTR (untranslated regionRNA molecules in the cellular environment have several important functions. In many cases, proper RNA function is intimately linked to proper three-dimensional structure of the molecule. Thus, it seems reasonable to assume that structural changes caused by external influence can strongly inhibit important cellular functions maintained by RNAs. Studies in this thesis have had a focus on the influen
Counterworking Male Takeover during Class Room Activities in Superior Technical Education
An increase in student activity is the goal of various pedagogic approaches and highly valued in most teaching situations. The benefits of student activation are widely discussed in literature (Fox, 1983), but possible drawbacks of such techniques need to be identified and compensations need to be found. This paper discusses a case study concerning one particular course moment, a seminar, held ove

Nationen på spel. Kropp, kön och svenskhet i populärpressens representationer av olympiska spel 1948-1972
In this thesis, I study representations of summer and winter Olympic Games and Olympic athletes in six Swedish popular magazines 1948-1972. The purpose is to examine the forms of identity produced within the nation as an “imagined community”, in discursive processes where gender, sexuality, ”race”/ ethnicity, class and age/generation intersect and mutually construct each other. The study is inspir
Organisational frameworks for straw-based energy systems in Ukraine and Western Europe
Ukraine (UA) has large biomass potentials, and faces broad needs for energy security enhancement, agricultural sector revitalisation and environmental improvement. Cross case study analysis is applied to nine straw-fired installations in UA within a conceptual framework developed by the authors. The analysis yields three distinct straw-based frameworks for organisation and action including ‘small

An Experimental Study of Fluid Dynamics and Mixing in Bubbly Gas-Liquid Flow Systems
In the present project, a new experimental method enabling Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) measurements in bubbly gas-liquid flows is presented. Due to reflection and refraction of the laser light, the bubbles will cause an uneven and unknown distribution of light intensity in the measurement plane. Introducing a tracer as a “reference” tracer with a known concentration, this can be compe

Ribosomes and subunits from Escherichia coli studied by asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation
PIn this thesis asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (FFF) separations of ribosomes and subunits have been studied. Ribosomal material was prepared from Escherichia coli (E. coli) cells and analyzed by the size separation technique. The five main peaks in the fractograms correspond to transfer RNA (tRNA), unidentified proteins, small subunit, large subunit, and ribosome. The accuracy of the
Search for optimal tube voltage for image plate radiography
Purpose: To search for the tube voltage which results in the highest clinical image quality per effective dose unit for chest and pelvis radiography respectively, using image plates. Methods: Two anthropomorphic phantoms were imaged with several different tube voltages. For the chest phantom, the tube voltage was varied between 70 and 150 kV, and for the pelvis phantom between 50 and 102 kV. The m
Affinity biosensors based on a capacitive transducer
Capacitive biosensors were developed for several analytes such as hormones, interleukines, viruses and heavy metal ions. The sensing surfaces were prepared by immobilizing the biorecognition element to self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold. SAMs form spontaneously on gold by adsorption of thiols, sulfides or disulfides. After immobilization of the biorecognition element a long chain hydrocarbon
