Protonolysis of Dialkyl and Alkylaryl Platinum(II) Complexes and Geometrical Isomerization of the Derived Monoorgano-Solvento Complexes: Clear-Cut Examples of Associative and Dissociative Pathways in Platinum Chemistry

SynopsisProtonolysis of the title compounds involves rate-determining proton transfer to the substrate. Subsequent isomerization is dissociative. Activation volumes for the two processes have opposite signs. A new kinetic β-hydrogen accelerating effect for isomerization favoring the fluxionality of a T-shaped 14-electron intermediate is reported.AbstractAbstract ImageProtonolysis of the complexes SynopsisProtonolysis of the title compounds involves rate-determining proton transfer to the substrate. The costs and finances of World War I according to Eli F. Heckscher

Heckscher published in 1915 a book on the economics of World War I in Swedish. He analyzed the costs and the finances of war along similar lines as his contemporary Pigou (1916). Heckscher reached farther by making a distinction between the short and the long-run costs of war. He also provided a comprehensive theoretical and empirical analysis of the sources of funds for war finance, including a pHeckscher published in 1915 a book on the economics of World War I in Swedish. To keep the alcoholic in out-patient treatment. : A differentiated approach through treatment contracts

Eighty-two alcoholics were offered a 2-year out-patient programme characterized by stressing the patients' own decisions both in joining the programme and in the choice of objectives and methods, by repeated feedbacks through treatment evaluations, and by relapse prevention. The 58 patients who accepted were more often married than the others. All but eight completed the programme. The most import

The influence of alcohol drinking and alcohol use disorders on psychiatric disorders and suicidal behavior

The present review reports on the influence of alcohol drinking and alcohol use disorders on psychiatric disorders and suicidal behaviour. The base of the study was previous reviews of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism publication Alcohol and Health in 1993 and by Helgason in 1996. Using a defined search strategy in Medline, another 42 articles from 1994 to 1996 were included

Defense mechanisms in alcoholics attending outpatient treatment. : Results from the MCT-test (Meta-Contrast Technique)

Defensive strategies were studied in 72 alcoholics participating in outpatient treatment by using, before the treatment started, the Meta-Contrast Technique, MCT, a percept-genetic method. Alcoholics had less often adaptive strategies than controls. A lack of adaptive defense strategies was related to a more impaired psychic status, more psychological benefits from drinking, and more psychiatric s

The Meta-Contrast Technique : a projective test predicting suicide

Sixty-nine inpatients who had attempted suicide were studied by means of the Meta-Contrast Technique (MCT), a projective test measuring personality factors, especially defensive strategies. The patients were divided into 3 subgroups, one of which was defined as stereotypy only, which denotes stereotypy (perceptual retardation) without any other coded defenses. At follow-up 7 of 8 completed suicide

Psychiatric symptoms in alcoholics attending outpatient treatment

The importance of psychiatric symptomatology for the treatment course of alcoholics was analyzed in a long-term outpatient treatment study. Seventy-two patients, 60 men and 12 women, were personally interviewed during treatment and after 3 years. Before treatment psychiatric symptoms were rated according to the Comprehensive Psychopathological Rating Scale (CPRS). Women had significantly higher sc

How IKEA turned a crisis into an opportunity

In 2013–2014, the IKEA cuddle toy Lufsig was connoted as a symbol of the Chief Executive (CE) of Hong Kong, prompting stakeholders to make negative associations with the corporation. Our study examines how IKEA mediated communication on traditional media and social media to turn this crisis into an opportunity. This study informs corporate communicators and researchers about the integrated utiliza
