Development of a Proactive Supply Risk Management Model
Supply risk management (SRM) is a well-established aspect in the field of supply chain management (SCM) that has gained even more relevance due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Many articles have been published relating to the topic, such as Norrman and Jansson (2004) and Zsidisin (2003a). To ensure the academic contribution of this thesis, the authors specifically focused on SRM for companies pr

Genome-wide structural and functional protein characterization by ab initio protein structure prediction
Very little is known about a considerable part of all proteins and it is time consuming and expensive to study each individual protein to determine its function, structure and cellular role. Proteins retain structural, functional and sequential characteristics from ancestral proteins and hence two proteins that share a common ancestor, i.e. are homologs, will to some extent have similar sequen
Synthesis Towards Biologically Active Natural Products
In 2005 two research groups independently reported the isolation of a series of structurally intriguing C-19 terpenolides from the plants Thapsia transtagana and Thapsia garganica. The compounds were shown to be potent inhibitors of the sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPases. The interesting biological properties and the unique structural characteristics of the transtaganolides/basiliolides (the
On Evil Twins and Their Absent Friends
Knowledge on intermetallic compounds and alloys is essential for technology leaps. The latest of these, the so-called digital revolution, started the period of the information age which is characterized by fast information transfer. The constant development of faster and smaller electronic devices comes with the drawback of increased amounts of waste, meaning products that used to by high-end tech
Reformationens huvudfrågor och arvet från Augustinus. En studie i Martin Chemnitz' Augustinusreception
As a co-author of the Formula of Concord, Martin Chemnitz (1522-86) codified the sola scriptura principle of the Reformation, that the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures are the only rule for all Church doctrine. This principle is clearly expressed in Chemnitz' own theological treatises as well, but in his argumentation one is also confronted with an astonishing number of quotations from the Churc
Round Trips to Heaven : Otherworldly Travelers in Early Judaism and Christianity
In the beginning of the Common Era, a number of religious texts were written recounting heavenly journey adventures. These narratives have come to constitute a recurring theme in research regarding ancient religions. Round Trips to Heaven features several early Jewish and Christian heavenly journey texts. Most of them are included in the apocalyptic literature. During the earlier research, the he
Biases in Visual Selective Attention : Trait Anxious Individuals Avert Their Gaze From Unpleasant Stimuli
Cognitive models of anxiety postulate that anxious individuals are inclined to pay more attention to negative than to positive emotional visual stimuli. The main aim of the present dissertation was to test this prediction, employing a measure of the direction of gaze. In studies I, II and III the participants were shown pairs of angry and happy faces on a screen. In Study IV the stimuli were pleas
Optimising the clinical use of tomotherapy
Radiotherapy is one of the major tools for treating cancer. Through research and technical development radiotherapy is becoming more advanced with new treatment techniques emerging. In the work presented in this thesis, well-known methods have been used, or modified for use, and new methods have been introduced in order to optimise the clinical use of an advanced radiotherapy treatment technique,
Floodwater harvesting for artificial recharge of groundwater - estimation and prediction for arid Iran
Groundwater depletion in arid and semiarid areas is of increasing concern. Increasing water demand due to increasing population and climate change impacts have intensified the water shortage problems and put further stress especially on groundwater. Water harvesting techniques have been traditional solutions to water scarcity problems in the arid and semiarid Middle East for thousands of years. Th
Reconciliation and the Search for a Shared Moral Landscape – An exploration based upon a study of Northern Ireland and South Africa
In Northern Ireland and South Africa obstacles to reconciliation were found in these elements of a “moral landscape”: – Experiences of trauma, separation and inequalities, – Divergent views of the conflict and of “the other”, – Opposing identifications and loyalties, – Norms for interaction, – Contestant interpretations of values such as “peace” and “justice”. This study describes how these obstac
