A geometric study on shell side heat transfer and flow resistance of a six-start spirally corrugated tube
Heat transfer enhancement is of great importance for energy efficiency improvement. The utilization of spirally corrugated tubes is one of the efficient ways to strengthen heat transfer. In this article, based on a validated numerical model, the effects of geometric parameters of a six-start spirally corrugated tube, including the pitch p and the corrugation depth e, on the shell side heat transfe
Sequential magnetic switching in Fe/MgO(001) superlattices
Polarized neutron reflectometry is used to determine the sequence of magnetic switching in interlayer exchange coupled Fe/MgO(001) superlattices in an applied magnetic field. For 19.6 Å thick MgO layers we obtain a 90 periodic magnetic alignment between adjacent Fe layers at remanence. In an increasing applied field the top layer switches first followed by its second-nearest neighbor. For 16.4 Å M
Microscopic colitis in Denmark and Sweden : incidence, putative risk factors, histological assessment and endoscopic activity
Objective: The significantly higher incidence rates of microscopic colitis (MC) in Denmark compared to Sweden remains unexplained. Methods: Consecutive patients with newly diagnosed MC in the neighbouring regions of Skåne in 2011–2015 and Zealand in 2010–2016 were prospectively identified. Data on large bowel endoscopies and biopsies rates were retrieved. Information on putative factors were obtai
Circulating metabolites associated with alcohol intake in the european prospective investigation into cancer and nutrition cohort
Identifying the metabolites associated with alcohol consumption may provide insights into the metabolic pathways through which alcohol may affect human health. We studied associations of alcohol consumption with circulating concentrations of 123 metabolites among 2974 healthy participants from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study. Alcohol consumption at rec
Effect of more vs less frequent follow-up testing on overall and colorectal cancer–Specific mortality in patients with stage II or III colorectal cancer the COLOFOL randomized clinical trial
IMPORTANCE Intensive follow-up of patients after curative surgery for colorectal cancer is common in clinical practice, but evidence of a survival benefit is limited. OBJECTIVE To examine overall mortality, colorectal cancer–specific mortality, and colorectal cancer–specific recurrence rates among patients with stage II or III colorectal cancer who were randomized after curative surgery to 2 alter
On Optimal Control for Concept Evaluation and System Development in Construction Machines
The main goal with this thesis is to develop a method to maximize the fuel efficiency [ton/l] in construction machines, while fulfilling the desired productivity [ton/h]. This is achieved by focusing on two of the main influencers; the machine concept evaluation and the development of operator assist systems. To be able to perform a concept evaluation that is unbiased from control engineering expe
Airspace Dimension Assessment with nanoparticles reflects lung density as quantified by MRI
Background: Airspace Dimension Assessment with inhaled nanoparticles is a novel method to determine distal airway morphology. This is the first empirical study using Airspace Dimension Assessment with nanoparticles (AiDA) to estimate distal airspace radius. The technology is relatively simple and potentially accessible in clinical outpatient settings. Method: Nineteen never-smoking volunteers perf
DCT-based compression scheme for OFDM baseband signals
The requirements on the data rates of communication systems increase roughly an order of a magnitude at each new generation. This increase can be especially noticeable for the new centralized radio access networks (C-RAN) scenarios, considered for meeting the requirements of the fifth generation (5G) wireless systems. The general C-RAN architecture normally assumes data transmission in the form of
N-type doping and morphology of GaAs nanowires in Aerotaxy
Controlled doping in semiconductor nanowires modifies their electrical and optical properties, which are important for high efficiency optoelectronic devices. We have grown n-type (Sn) doped GaAs nanowires in Aerotaxy, a new continuous gas phase mass production technique. The morphology of Sn doped nanowires is found to be a strong function of dopant, tetraethyltin to trimethylgallium flow ratio,

Both localized and systemic bacterial infections are predicted by injection drug use : A prospective follow-up study in Swedish criminal justice clients
Background Both skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI) and systemic bacterial infections are common in people who inject drugs (PWID), but data on incidence and risk factors are lacking. We compared registered diagnoses for such infections in Swedish criminal justice clients with regard to injecting drug use. Methods Baseline interview data from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service on drug use

Search for a Structure in the Bs0 π± Invariant Mass Spectrum with the ATLAS Experiment
A search for the narrow structure, X(5568), reported by the D0 Collaboration in the decay sequence X→Bs0π±, Bs0→J/ψφ, is presented. The analysis is based on a data sample recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC corresponding to 4.9 fb-1 of pp collisions at 7 TeV and 19.5 fb-1 at 8 TeV. No significant signal was found. Upper limits on the number of signal events, with properties corresponding t
Associations between self-injury and involvement in cyberbullying among mentally distressed adolescents in Scania, Sweden
Aims: To investigate associations between self-injury and involvement in cyberbullying as a bully, victim or bully-victim among mentally distressed adolescents. Methods: Data from the public health survey of children and adolescents in Scania, Sweden 2016 were used. A questionnaire was answered anonymously in school by 9143 students in 9th grade compulsory school (response rate 77%) and 7949 stude
The role of the laboratory in diagnosis and management of inhibitory antibodies in haemophilia
The treatment of patients with haemophilia A has remarkably improved over the years and the journey to a potential cure continues. Replacement therapy has been the cornerstone of treatment, and, despite major advances, the development of neutralizing antibodies, eg inhibitors, has thus far not been possible to avoid. How, and to what extent, the new non-factor-based options will modify treatment s
Matching of police and hospital road crash casualty records – a data-linkage study in Malaysia
Underreporting of road crashes hampers the development of appropriate road safety countermeasures in many countries. In this study, police and hospital records from road crash casualties in the Melaka Tengah district in Malaysia from 2014 were collected to determine their matching and reporting rates. Based on authentic personal identifiers from both types of records, Microsoft SQL was used to rev
