A 1.8-GHz CMOS VCO tuned by an accumulation-mode MOS varactor

This work presents a 1.8-GHz VCO tuned by a pMOS capacitor working exclusively in the accumulation and depletion regions. The VCO has been fabricated in a standard 0.6 μm CMOS process. It shows a tuning range of about 11% and a phase noise of -137 dBc/Hz at 3 MHz offset from the carrier, for a current consumption of 2.7 mA. The VCO compares favorably with a CMOS VCO tuned by a reverse biased diode

Cloning of the semenogelin II gene of the rhesus monkey. Duplications of 360 bp extend the coding region in man, rhesus monkey and baboon

The semenogelin II gene from the rhesus monkey has been cloned and characterized. The transcription unit is split into three exons of 97, 2086 and 124 bp, with two intervening introns of 241 bp and 862 bp. The first exon codes for a 23-amino-acid signal peptide and the two amino-terminal residues of the secreted protein. The second exon codes for the rest of the mature protein, and the third exon

The impact of daylight on use of office lighting controls.

Daylight may contribute to energy savings due to that it may eliminate the use of electric lighting. The study was conducted in 18 single-occupant offices to examine the occupants’ use of different kinds of lighting controls in relation to daylight availability. The 3 offices were equipped with the same kind of lighting control. In total, the following 6 different kinds of lighting controls were s

Atlas Data-Challenge 1 on NorduGrid

The first LHC application ever to be executed in a computational Grid environment is the so-called ATLAS Data-Challenge 1, more specifically, the part assigned to the Scandinavian members of the ATLAS Collaboration. Taking advantage of the NorduGrid testbed and tools, physicists from Denmark, Norway and Sweden were able to participate in the overall exercise starting in July 2002 and continuing th

Splitting the Least-Mean-Square Algorithm

The least-mean-square (LMS) algorithm is an adaptation scheme widely used in practice due to its simplicity. In some applications the involved signals are continuous-time. Then, usually either a fully analog implementation of the LMS algorithm is applied or the input data are sampled by analog-to-digital (AD) converters to be processed digitally. A purely digital realization is most often the pref

On Scan Chain Diagnosis for Intermittent Faults

Diagnosis is increasingly important, not only for individual analysis of failing ICs, but also for high-volume test response analysis which enables yield and test improvement. Scan chain defects constitute a significant fraction of the overall digital defect universe, and hence it is well justified that scan chain diagnosis has received increasing research attention in recent years. In this paper,
