Interpolation of multicomponent streamer data using extended structure tensors. Part 2 : Interpolating the pressure field's depth derivative
We present a data-driven interpolation method, based on extended structure tensors. The method uses directional information, extracted from the crossline derivative of the pressure field, to interpolate both pressure field and its normal (depth) derivative. Here we focus on the interpolation of the normal derivative.

Eugenics and Pragmatism : F.C.S. Schiller's Philosophical Politics
The British philosopher F. C. S. Schiller (1864–1937) was a leading pragmatist in the early twentieth century. His critiques of formal logic and his attempts to construct a humanist logic, derived from an anti-foundationalist humanism, are recognized as lasting philosophical achievements. But scholars have failed to consider that Schiller was passionately committed to the British eugenics movement

Oxidant-based anticancer activity of a novel synthetic analogue of capsaicin, capsaicin epoxide
OBJECTIVES: Plant-derived natural substances, such as capsaicin, with potent antiproliferative activity against cancer cells in vitro are considered to be promising nutraceuticals in anticancer therapy. Nevertheless, the limited systemic bioavailability of phytochemicals may raise questions regarding the physiological relevance of their phytochemical effects in vivo. Thus, the search for novel phy
Azithromycin augments rhinovirus-induced IFNβ via cytosolic MDA5 in experimental models of asthma exacerbation
Deficient production of anti-viral interferons (IFNs) may be involved in causing viral-induced asthma exacerbations. Hence, drugs inducing lung IFN production would be warranted. Azithromycin may reduce asthma exacerbations but its modus operandi is unknown. Here, we investigated if azithromycin induces IFNβ expression in vitro in rhinovirus-infected bronchial epithelial cells from asthmatic donor
Impact of comorbidity on survival in peripheral T-cell lymphomas : A Swedish Lymphoma Registry study
Comorbidity impacts survival in B-cell lymphoma patients, but the influence in peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) has been little studied. To investigate the impact of comorbidity on outcome in PTCL, we identified adult patients with newly diagnosed PTCL from 2000 to 2009 in the Swedish Lymphoma Registry. Data on comorbidity at diagnosis were retrospectively collected according to the Charlson Co
Neck-Related Physical Function, Self-Efficacy, and Coping Strategies in Patients With Cervical Radiculopathy : A Randomized Clinical Trial of Postoperative Physiotherapy
Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare postoperative rehabilitation with structured physiotherapy to the standard approach in patients with cervical radiculopathy (CR) in a prospective randomized study at 6 months follow-up based on measures of neck-related physical function, self-efficacy, and coping strategies. Methods: Patients with persistent CR and scheduled for surgery (N = 202)

Room-temperature InP/InAsP Quantum Discs-in-Nanowire Infrared Photodetectors
The possibility to engineer nanowire heterostructures with large bandgap variations is particularly interesting for technologically important broadband photodetector applications. Here we report on a combined study of design, fabrication, and optoelectronic properties of infrared photodetectors comprising four million n+–i–n+ InP nanowires periodically ordered in arrays. The nanowires were grown b

Incidental findings and their handling in the Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioimage study (SCAPIS)
The Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioImage Study (SCAPIS) combines the use of new imaging technologies, large-scale proteomics/metabolomics/genomics, and epidemiological analyses to extensively characterize a Swedish cohort of 30,000 men and women aged between 50 and 64 years. Its main aims are to improve risk prediction and to optimize our ability to study mechanisms of cardiopulmonary diseases. SCAPIS
Sparse coding with unity range codes and label consistent discriminative dictionary learning
A novel sparse coding framework with unity range codes and the possibility to produce a discriminative dictionary is presented. The framework is, in contrast to many other works, able to handle unsupervised, supervised and semi-supervised settings. Furthermore, codes are constrained to be in unity range, which is beneficial in many scenarios. The paper presents the framework and solvers used to pr

Rat retinal ganglion cells upregulate the pro-apoptotic BH3-only protein Bim after optic nerve transection
Increased expression of Bim, a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family, has been shown to be critical for neuronal apoptosis. To study the involvement of Bim in injury-induced cell death in retina, Bim expression was studied in normal rat retina and in retina after optic nerve transection using quantitative RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. As a complement to this, the apoptotic regulators Bax, Bc
