On the relation between morphology and syntax.
According to the traditional view, the relation between morphology and syntax is the following: while morphology builds up word forms—typically by combining roots with other roots and with affixes, but also by applying other operations to them, syntax takes fully inflected words as input and combines them into phrases and sentences. The division of labour between morphology and syntax is thus perf

Burnout?
In this thesis, two questions are answered: What is burnout?, and What causes burnout? Essentialist conceptions of burnout are criticized and burnout is regarded as a syndrome in the sense of a practice concept, not possible to delineate exactly. Practice concepts are compared to social constructions. From the syndrome idea, the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), is chosen as an operationalization o
The Teddy Bear in Psychology : A prospective study with focus on children´s use of transitional objects.
The central issue of the dissertation is the place and meaning of the concepts transitional object (TO) and transitional phenomenon (TP) as defined by Winnicott, in a normal psychological context. A group of children were followed from age 8 months to 6 years. A prevalence study was carried out by interviewing parents in connection with the child's (n=147) routine check-ups at the Child Health Cen
Trigeneration: Thermodynamic performance and cold expander aerodynamic design in humid air turbines
Improving electrical efficiency has been proposed as the most convenient means of reducing, e.g. CO2 emission from power plants. Increasing fuel utilization through combined heat and power generation is another useful measure for emission reduction. Trigeneration technology for the production of heat, power and cooling is an interesting alternative for further improvement of fuel utiliz
Josef Bexell som själasörjare
Josef Bexell as soul-carer Josef Bexell (1815–1897), Lutheran rector of Långaryd in the diocese of Växjö, was widely known as a soul-carer, both in public and in private. Older pedestrians’ perceptions of the outdoor environment in a year-round perspective
This paper focuses on older peoples’ needs as pedestrians by examining their perceptions of the outdoor environment in both bare-ground and snow/ice conditions. Qualitative and quantitative methods are used, including focus group interviews, participant observations, and questionnaires. The results show that older people consider accessibility/usability issues as very important and that the import
Application of enzymes, sodium tripolyphosphate and cation exchange resin for the release of extracellular polymeric substances from sewage sludge - Characterization of the extracted polysaccharides/glycoconjugates by a panel of lectins
The study describes extraction of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) from sewage sludge by applying enzymes and enzymes combined with sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP). Additionally, a systematic study of two non-enzymatic extraction agents is described. The assessment of the released products is made by colorimetrical methods and polysaccharides/glycoconjugates identification by the interactio
Patterns of stable isotope signatures in willow warbler Phylloscopus trochilus feathers collected in Africa
We conducted stable isotope analyses of nitrogen and carbon on feathers obtained from willow warblers in Africa to find an explanation for a previously observed pattern of different delta N-15 and delta C-13 values across a migratory divide in central Scandinavia. A new data set confirms that north Scandinavian birds of the subspecies P. t. acredula have higher delta N-15 values than south Scandin

Lighting control systems in individual offices at high latitude: measurements of lighting conditions and electricity savings
An efficient lighting control systems (LCS) should take advantage of the natural light available, but this presents some technical challenges as well as user related issues. So far, the assessment of lighting energy consumption of LCS has been based on technical features rather than the occupants’ acceptance. This article presents the results of a monitoring study providing some recommendations ba

The concept of cooperation ability is here used in the sense of an ability to actively facilitate communication and foster relationships with colleagues and supervisors through flexibility and commitment, and thereby benefit the employer’s business. Special attention is paid to the dis
Declines amongst breeding Eider Somateria mollissima numbers in the Baltic/Wadden Sea flyway
We report on the status of the Baltic/Wadden Sea flyway Eider population based on trends in breeding and wintering numbers throughout the region, supplemented by changes in the sex ratio and proportion of young Eiders as monitored in the Danish hunting bag. At the flyway scale, total numbers of breeding pairs decreased by 48% during 2000-2009, after relatively stable breeding numbers in 1991-2000.
