The article reviews the unsustainable appeasement policy of Europe towards South Caucasus, especially Armenia and Azerbaijan in regard to the unresolved conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh. Unless a policy shift is implemented by all involved parties, a possible re-eruption of the armed conflict, with disastrous consequences, is feared.

The blood parasite diversity was studied in paddyfield warblers (Acrocephalus agricola) breeding in NE Bulgaria, SW Russia and S. Kazakhstan.
