Mid-Holocene Littorina Sea transgressions based on stratigraphic studies in coastal lakes of NW Russia

The mid-Holocene Littorina Sea transgression has been studied in sediment cores from four coastal lakes in NW Russia. The basins are situated in the same drainage system at elevations from 6.9 to 9.2 m a.s.l. Complementary parameters have been applied to identify water-level changes. Chronological models are based on AMS radiocarbon dating of bulk sediments but also wood remains and moss sedge pea

Middle ordovician carbonate facies development, conodont biostratigraphy and faunal diversity patterns at the Lynna River, northwestern Russia

The Ordovician Period has emerged as a highly dynamic time in Earth history. Comprehensive work on chrono, chemo-and biostratigraphy has resulted in an overall wellconstrained systemic framework, but several local successions around the globe still await detailed analysis in many respects. Herein we perform a highresolution analysis of abiotic and biotic signals in the Lynna River section, a key l

Ryssland och det civila samhället - ett teorikritiskt analysförsök

Based on an analytical overview of post-Communist civil society development in Russia, the present thesis attempts a critical discussion of general civil society theory from the perspective of its relevance for the case study in question. The text consists of three closely interconnected, mutually reinforcing parts. In the first part, major issues of current civil society research are being themat

Diasporic group boundaries and solidarity in the making : collective memory in the anti-war protests in Sweden

Since the eruption of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, both Ukrainian and Russian diasporas in Sweden have been reframing themselves through memories, narratives and symbols. They have been revised in connection to the initial Russian-backed insurgency in eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea (2014), the “homeland” as well as previous diasporic mobilizations in the country of residence.

Economic Inequality in Imperial and Modern Russia in the Context of Political Instability

Contemporary Russia is among some of the most unequal countries. After the fall of the Soviet Union, economic inequality has rapidly increased, and social discontent is rising as demonstrated by the continuous protests that culminated in opposition rallies during March 2017. Despite these events, political stability characterizes the current conditions of the Russian regime. What are the forces ma

Johanna Lindbladh (ed) The Poetics of Memory in Post-Totalitarian Narration Can we create a true memory of the past? How shall this truth, in that case, be presented? Against the background of a totalitarian epoch and its falsified history writing, the notions of memory, history and truth have received quite specific meanings. This book sheds light on several totalitarian and post-totalitarian reg

Weichselian geology and palaeo-environmental history of the central Taymyr Peninsula, Siberia, indicating no glaciation during the last global glacial maximum

The Taymyr Peninsula constitutes the eastern delimitation of a possible Kara Sea basin ice sheet. The existence of such an ice sheet during the last global glacial maximum (LGM), i.e. during the Late Weichselian/Upper Zyryansk, is favoured by some Russian scientists. However, a growing number of studies point towards a more minimalistic view concerning the areal extent of Late Weichselian/Upper Zy

Kaliningrad Oblast closer to its ever-distant masters

One of the consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the Western sanctions that followed has been deteriorating economic situation in Kaliningrad Oblast. The Russian semi-exclave on the Baltic, already affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, has suffered from disrupted supply deliveries, closure of externalmarkets and peaking transportation costs.Despite statements made b

Civil Society in Russia, Myth and Reality

Russia is a country in transition towards democracy. After a long period of economical and political suppression, people have a chance to participate in society's life, to affect the ruling government and to express their views more freely.
