“I Know Hyena. Do you Know Hyena?” Challenges in Interpreter-Mediated Dementia Assessment, Focusing on the Role of the Interpreter

Dementia assessment requires functional communication and interaction between healthcare professionals and the patient being assessed. These can be affected by the requirement for an interpreter to communicate with the patient. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the interactions between patient, healthcare professionals and interpreter, focusing on the role of the interpreter and the chall

Efficacy and feasibility of SENSory relearning of the UPPer limb (SENSUPP) in people with chronic stroke : A pilot randomized controlled trial

Background: Sensorimotor impairments of the upper limb (UL) are common after stroke, but there is a lack of evidence-based interventions to improve functioning of UL. Objective: To evaluate (1) the efficacy of sensory relearning and task-specific training compared to task-specific training only, and (2) the feasibility of the training in chronic stroke. Design: A pilot randomized controlled trial.

Evaluation of nonlinear static and dynamic analysis of steel braced frame buildings subjected to near-field earthquakes using FBD and DBD

Near-field earthquake is one of the primary sources of ground motions that significantly affecting the structure's seismic response in its surrounding area containing pulse-long periods. The two popular and reliable approaches for the seismic investigation of structures are known as the force and displacement-based seismic design (FBD and DBD), extensively developed in the literature. In the prese

Shifts in microbial stoichiometry upon nutrient addition do not capture growth-limiting nutrients for soil microorganisms in two subtropical soils

Microbial stoichiometry has become a key aspect in ecological research as shifts in microbial C:N, C:P and N:P ratios upon nutrient addition are presumed to give insight into relative nutrient limitations for soil microorganisms–with far-reaching implications for biogeochemical processes. However, this expectation has never been tested against direct methods of microbial growth responses to nutrie

Emerging industries : institutions, legitimacy and system-level agency

Economic geographers have studied emerging industries in regions from various perspectives, such as life cycle, evolutionary economic geography and systemic approaches. However, so far they have insufficiently conceptualized the effects of institutional structures on new industry emergence. This special issue on ‘Emerging Industries: Institutions, Legitimacy and System Building’ therefore shows re

RIFM fragrance ingredient safety assessment, 2,6-nonadienenitrile, CAS Registry Number 67019-89-0

The existing information supports the use of this material as described in this safety assessment. 2,6-Nonadienenitrile was evaluated for genotoxicity, repeated dose toxicity, reproductive toxicity, local respiratory toxicity, phototoxicity/photoallergenicity, skin sensitization, and environmental safety. Data show that 2,6-nonadienenitrile is not genotoxic. Data on read-across analog E- and Z-2(+

The roles of interleukin-1 receptor accessory protein in certain inflammatory conditions

Interleukin-1 receptor accessory protein (IL-1RAcP) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily proteins consisting of soluble and membranous isoforms. IL-1RAcP plays an essential role in the signaling of the IL-1 family cytokines such as IL-1, IL-33 and IL-36, as well as tyrosine kinases FLT3 and C-Kit. IL-1RAcP generally initiates inflammatory signaling pathway through the recruitment of signa

Simplified and Improved Separations Between Regular and General Resolution by Lifting

We give a significantly simplified proof of the exponential separation between regular and general resolution of Alekhnovich et al. (2007) as a consequence of a general theorem lifting proof depth to regular proof length in resolution. This simpler proof then allows us to strengthen the separation further, and to construct families of theoretically very easy benchmarks that are surprisingly hard f

Clique is hard on average for regular resolution

We prove that for k ≪ 4 n regular resolution requires length nΩ(k) to establish that an Erdős–Rényi graph with appropriately chosen edge density does not contain a k-clique. This lower bound is optimal up to the multiplicative constant in the exponent, and also implies unconditional nΩ(k) lower bounds on running time for several state-of-the-art algorithms for finding maximum cliques in graphs.

Responsible gambling telephone intervention to high-risk gamblers by a state-owned gambling operator in sweden : Study protocol for a study on effectiveness, user satisfaction, and acceptability

Gambling disorder is associated with severe financial, social, and psychological consequences, but treatment-seeking rates have been described to be low. Apart from formal treatment, motivational interventions in nontreatment-seeking high-risk gamblers have been shown to be promising. However, little is known about the effectiveness and acceptability of such motivational interventions carried out

Rolling Shutter Camera Absolute Pose

We present minimal, non-iterative solutions to the absolute pose problem for images from rolling shutter cameras. The absolute pose problem is a key problem in computer vision and rolling shutter is present in a vast majority of today's digital cameras. We discuss several camera motion models and propose two feasible rolling shutter camera models for a polynomial solver. In previous work a lineari

High-Isolation Two-Port UWB Antenna Based on Shared Structure

In this communication, a novel planar structure-shared diverse two-port ultrawideband (UWB) antenna with high isolation and common ground is proposed based on a new slot-loaded method. A tapered slot with an end-fire radiation pattern is etched in the top middle section of a coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed printed monopole antenna to reduce its effects on the monopole mode. The two-port UWB antenna f

Social participation and physical prefrailty in older Japanese adults : The Shimane CoHRE study

As older adults in an early stage (prefrailty) of frailty may return to a healthy state, it is necessary to examine the prevention of prefrailty. In this context, the number and types of social participation activities associated with physical prefrailty in community-dwelling older adults have remained relatively unexplored. This cross-sectional study investigates this issue by analyzing 616 parti

Characterization and antioxidant activity of avenanthramides from selected oat lines developed by mutagenesis technique

From a mutagenized oat population, produced by ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis, hulled grains from 17 lines with elevated avenanthramide (AVN) content were selected and their AVN structures, concentrations and antioxidant potentials were determined by HPLC-MS2 and HPLC equipped with an on-line ABTS+ antioxidant detection system. The data obtained showed qualitative and quantitative differences

Introduction

This article focuses on adjudication of Muslim family law in countries that range from the Middle East and North Africa to South-East Asia. It begins by shortly summarizing the development of shari'a in pre-modern times, up until the 19th century. We discuss the basic features of marriage among classical jurists and argue that the close connection known today between the family and Islamic law can

Is it possible to gain energy at work? A questionnaire study in primary health care

Abstract Objectives: The area of regenerative work is still close to unexplored. The aim was to explore the possibility for employees to gain energy at work. Methods: Questionnaire to all employees (n = 599) from different professions in public and private primary health care centers in one health care district in Sweden. The questionnaire, which had a salutogenic perspective, included information

Local electronic structure of stable monolayers of α-MoO3−x grown on graphite substrate

We report on van der Waals epitaxy of two-dimensional (2D) molybdenum trioxide (MoO3−x) with monolayer thickness directly grown on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite by thermal evaporation under ultrahigh vacuum. The chemical composition, electronic and crystalline lattice structures of the mono-and few-layer MoO3−x sheets are analysed. Using scanning tunnelling microscopy and spectroscopy, we inv

Time between milestone events in the Alzheimer's disease amyloid cascade

Objective: Estimate the time-course of the spread of key pathological markers and the onset of cognitive dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease. Methods: In a cohort of 335 older adults, ranging in cognitive functioning, we estimated the time of initial changes of Aβ, tau, and decreases in cognition with respect to the time of Aβ-positivity. Results: Small effect sizes of change in CSF Aβ42 and region
