Migration, Marriage and Social Mobility: Women in Sweden 1880-1900

We study the intergenerational social mobility of women by looking at how migration was associated with socioeconomic marriage mobility using complete-count census data for Sweden. The censuses 1880–1900 have been linked at the individual level, enabling us to follow almost 100,000 women from their parental home to their new marital household. Marriage market imbalances were not an important push

Preventing contrast medium-induced acute kidney injury : Side-by-side comparison of Swedish-ESUR guidelines

Abstract: A side-by-side comparison of updated guidelines regarding contrast medium-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) from the Swedish Society of Uroradiology (SSUR) and the European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) is presented. The major discrepancies include a higher glomerular filtration rate (GFR) threshold as a risk factor for CI-AKI and for discontinuation of metformin by SSUR, i.e

Crises, investments, and political institutions

On the basis of a game-theoretic model, this paper argues that governments typically manage crises more effectively in systems where political power is concentrated in a single party, but they are more likely to make investments in future welfare in systems where political power is shared among several parties. The paper makes two contributions. First of all, it shows that both crisis-management f

Review and theory symbiosis : An introspective retrospective

This paper presents a polylithic framework of review and theory development (RTD) papers. Based upon a reflective analysis of review papers that I have written, read, and/or reviewed, I build a framework suggesting four types of RTD papers: organizing reviews, assessing reviews, specific-theorizing reviews, and broad-theorizing reviews. The four types vary according to the research focus and resea

Adopting a new technology : potatoes and population growth in the periphery

Sweden's population doubled in size between 1750 and 1850 despite a century of stagnating per capita incomes and real wages, which has led many historians to attribute the population explosion to the introduction of the potato. This article provides the first systematic evidence on the potato's contribution to Swedish living standards and population growth. Potatoes at least doubled output per acr

Modelling the terrestrial carbon cycle – drivers, benchmarks, and model-data fusion

Observerade koncentrationer av atmosfäriskt koldioxid uppvisar en stor årlig variabilitet som främst anses vara orsakad av det terrestra ekosystemets respons på klimatföThe terrestrial ecosystem sequesters about one-third of anthropogenic emissions each year, thereby providing a critical ecosystem service that slows the rate of increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide and helps mitigate climate change. Observed atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations exhibit a large inter-annual variability which is considered to be caused primarily by the response of the terrest

From Trust Convergence to Trust Divergence: Trust Development in Conflictual Inter-Organizational Relationships

Whereas extant research on trust in interorganizational relationships tends to focus on trust convergence – i.e. members of one focal firm developing similar trust perceptions toward a partner firm – we shift focus to trust divergence – i.e. members of one focal firm developing different trust perceptions toward a partner firm. To explore trust divergence, we conduct an inductive, longitudinal stu
