This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 14th International Workshop on Post-Quantum Cryptography, PQCrypto 2022, held in College Park, MD, USA, in August 14–18, 2023.The 25 full papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 51 submissions. They are categorized in the following topical sections: code-based cryptography; group-action-based cryptography; isogen

Machinability Analysis of Grey Cast Iron

Grey Cast iron is an Iron Carbon alloy and is known for its wide range of applications in manufacturing industry. It contains inclusions such as Manganese, silicon, nickel, vanadium and copper. Traces of impurities such as sulphur and phosphorous are also present which is one of the factors affecting Machinability leading to unpredictable process behavior. This Master’s degree thesis is an Indust

The Nag Hammadi Codices and their Ancient Readers : Exploring Textual Materiality and Reading Practice

Since their discovery in 1945, the Nag Hammadi Codices have generated questions and scholarly debate as to their date and function. Paul Linjamaa contributes to the discussion by offering insights into previously uncharted aspects pertinent to the materiality of the manuscripts. He explores the practical implementation of the texts in their ancient setting through analyses of codicological aspects

Compound hazards of climate change, forestry, and other encroachments on winter pasturelands: a storyline approach in a forest reindeer herding community in Northern Sweden

The impacts of climate change on rural cultures and livelihoods depend on how the resulting complex biophysical processes may transform people’s land use practices. We argue that research can incorporate local concerns of compound hazards through deterministic rather than probabilistic approaches to better understand the multiple causations involved in such climate change impacts. We apply mixed

Recent scientific research shows that being in nature can have positive cognitive, physiological and emotional benefits. The study looks at both if the respondents perceive positive effects when they spend time in nature, and how the respondents perceived effects towards being in nature affects their intentio

Estimation of Parabolic Microwave Antenna Movements Using Sensor Fusion

Wireless communication has seamlessly integrated itself into our daily lives, with Ericsson pioneering the development of comprehensive mobile ecosystems. As the demand for data traffic continues to surge, the enhancement of both cellular radio systems and backhaul infrastructure remains paramount. Within this context, Ericsson leverages microwave transport network solutions to address backhaul ne

Navigating inclusion : ‘home-making’ in the UK Shin Buddhist community

This contribution focuses on narratives and experiences of belonging and exclusion among convert members of Three Wheels, a Japanese Shin Buddhist temple in London, to investigate how difference is incorporated into transnational Buddhism. Three Wheels, whose members include both diasporic Japanese and convert Buddhist Europeans, occupies a marginal position within both transnational Shin Buddhism

ENVRI-Hub, the open-access platform of the environmental sciences community in Europe: a closer look into the architecture

The ENVRI-FAIR project brings together the ESFRI environmental research infrastructures (ENVRI) that provide environmental data and services, with the aim of making their resources compliant to the FAIR principles. To achieve this goal , the required work is mostly technical, with the ENVRIs working towards not only improving the FAIRness of their own data and services, but also reflecting their e

ENVRI-FAIR D5.3: Demonstrator of service integration in EOSC and systems

This deliverable showcases the progress and demonstrators of services integration between the ESFRI Cluster of Environmental Research Infrastructures and the European Open Science Cloud. It highlights the successful onboarding of the ENVRI Catalogue of Services onto the EOSC Marketplace, improving visibility and accessibility. Ongoing discussions with OpenAIRE aim to enhance the discoverability of

Creating ENVRI-hub, the Open-Access Platform of the Environmental Sciences Community in Europe

Environmental research infrastructures designed for monitoring all domains of the Earth system (oceans, atmosphere, ecosystems, and solid earth) contribute to global observing systems and serve as crucial information sources for environmental scientists in their quest for understanding and interpreting the complex Earth System. The EU funded ENVRI-FAIR project builds on the Environmental Research

Ultrafast Infrared-to-Visible Photon Upconversion on Plasmon/TiO2 Solid Films

Optical upconversion via a multiphoton absorption process converts incoherent low-energy photons to shorter wavelengths. In this contribution, we report a solid-state thin film for infrared-to-visible upconversion composed of plasmonic/TiO2 interfaces. When excited at λ = 800 nm, three photons are absorbed, leading to the excitation of TiO2 trap states into an emissive state in the visible domain.

The European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) roadmap and perspectives to improve nutritional care in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation on behalf of the Cellular Therapy and Immunobiology Working Party (CTIWP) and the Nurses Group (NG) of the EBMT

Malnutrition is the most common comorbidity during the continuum of hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and negatively impacts clinical outcomes, response to therapy, quality of life, and costs. The intensive conditioning regimen administered before transplant causes inflammatory damages to the gastrointestinal system, which themselves contribute to trigger graft versus host disease (GvHD) i

The added value of devices to pelvic floor muscle training in radical post-prostatectomy stress urinary incontinence: A systematic review with metanalysis

PURPOSE: To investigate the role of pelvic floor devices (e.g., biofeedback, electrical stimulation, magnetic stimulation, or their combination) as adjunctive treatments in pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) in stress urinary incontinence (SUI) after radical prostatectomy.MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic review with meta-analysis. We searched for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and prospec

In vivo gene expression profile of Haemophilus influenzae during human pneumonia.

Haemophilus influenzae is a major cause of community-acquired pneumonia. While studied extensively in various laboratory models, less is known about the cell function while inside the human lung. We present the first analysis of the global gene expression of H. influenzae while the bacteria are in the lung during pneumonia ( in vivo conditions) and contrast it with bacterial isolates that have be

A retrospective multicenter cohort study of the association between anti-Factor Xa values and death, thromboembolism, and bleeding in patients with critical COVID-19

BACKGROUND: Patients with critical COVID-19 have a high risk of thromboembolism, but intensified thromboprophylaxis has not been proven beneficial. The activity of low-molecular-weight heparins can be monitored by measuring anti-Factor Xa. We aimed to study the association between anti-Factor Xa values and death, thromboembolism, and bleeding in patients with critical COVID-19.METHOD: This retrosp
