Mixed mode fracture in concrete

The type of mixed mode fracture, which is of a main interest for concrete, is a type of fracture, where shear as well as tensile stresses act in a damage zone, which has been created due to pure tensile stresses, and which is perpendicular to the direction of these stresses. While this damage zone still transfers tensile stresses, a shear deformation takes place, which also causes shear stresses.

Are there house effects in Swedish polls? A compositional approach

We investigate if we can find evidence of house effects in Swedish political opinion polls from 2006 to 2014. In order to respect the inherent restriction of the simplex sample space, we apply compositional data analysis and Aitchison geometry. We use compositional locally weighted regression (C-loess) to estimate the share of voters for each party at given dates, a poll of polls. The estimated sh

Horizontal Institutional Interlinkages

This chapter analyses horizontal institutional interlinkages by stressing their embeddedness in overarching global norms. It explains the nature of institutional interlinkages in various policy domains, and their consequences for the development of specific global regimes. We explore, in particular, how certain dominant global norms may be reflected in the positional differences (and their resolut

Evolutionary Processes and Hybridization within the Peat Mosses, Sphagnum

The aim of this thesis was to reveal details of the interspecific hybridization among bryophytes as exemplified by Sphagnum capillifolium and S. quinquefarium. I used a combination of morphometric and molecular methods, and cultivation experiments to (1) identify hybrid gametophytes, (2) reveal the contribution of each of the parents to the genomes of hybrids, (3) study the fertility of primary hy

Y-peel characterization of adhesively-bonded carton board: an objective method

Carton board packages are often closed with an adhesive. The adhesive joint thus formed has to meet the demands during the entire product life from converting to end-use. The adhesive joint has to be characterized if it is good or bad for the actual application. Today such characterization is done by manually peeling the joint, immediately after the adhesive application in the gluing machine. The
