Wonderment in tourism land : three tales of innovation
The paper uses an unconventional story format to report on three cases of tourism innovation, using the literary genre of nonsense to also contemplate narrative expression in academic research. Case materials principally derive from open in-depth interviews. The analysis highlights the importance of knowledge in innovation, also illuminating an important relationship to entrepreneurial passion. No

Developing ecological literacy in a forest garden: children’s perspectives
Today, cities become more dense, green spaces disappear and children spend less time outdoors. Research suggests that these conditions create health problems and lack of ecological literacy. To reverse such trends, localities are creating urban green spaces for children to visit during school time. Drawing on ideas in ecological literacy, this study investigates school children’s perspectives on a
A Neuron-Based Pulse Servo for Motion Control
Sensory control based on biological computational paradigms can be implemented using low-power analog very large-scale integrated circuitry. We describe a design frame and a set of circuit elements with which generic motor controllers can be implemented. We then embed a simple proportional-derivative motor controller in the design frame, and describe its performance advantages over a more traditio

The book contains a Greek text (based on MS Athos Protaton 86 and MS Parisinus graecus 2474) edited by Britt Dahlman and a Swedish translation of the Systematical collection of the Apophthegmata Patrum, book 15. The translation was made jointly by the participants in the translation seminar at Johannesakademin.
The role of SRC family kinases in FLT3 signaling
The receptor tyrosine kinase FLT3 is expressed almost exclusively in the hematopoietic compartment. Binding of its ligand, FLT3 ligand (FL), induces dimerization and activation of its intrinsic tyrosine kinase activity. This leads to autophosphorylation of FLT3 on several tyrosine residues which constitute high affinity binding sites for signal transduction molecules. Recruitment of these signal t
Trends in streamflow and rainfall in tropical South America : Amazonia, eastern Brazil, and northwestern Peru
Long hydrological records, from the Amazon Basin, northeastern Brazil, and northwestern Peru spanning most of this century, are examined for trends in rainfall (three wettest months) and runoff (three months of highest flow) or stage, where no rating curves exist. Trends are tested for significance using the Mann-Kendall statistic. In basins where large soil, aquifer, or man-made reservoirs give r

Futures as seen from the diaspora – the Syria 2040 workshops
The Syria 2040 workshops were initiated in 2016 by the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics and the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies, Lund University, and ran for one and a half years, using scenario methodology. Syrians with diverse backgrounds and political standpoints, living in Sweden and other European countries, collectively reflected on possible scenarios for futu

Physical bounds and radiation modes for MIMO antennas
Modern antenna design for communication systems revolves around two extremes: devices, where only a small region is dedicated to antenna design, and base stations, where design space is not shared with other components. Both imply different restrictions on what performance is realizable. In this paper properties of both ends of the spectrum in terms of MIMO performance is investigated. For small a
Enhanced Quadrupole and Octupole Strength in Doubly Magic Sn 132
The first 2+ and 3- states of the doubly magic nucleus Sn132 are populated via safe Coulomb excitation employing the recently commissioned HIE-ISOLDE accelerator at CERN in conjunction with the highly efficient MINIBALL array. The Sn132 ions are accelerated to an energy of 5.49 MeV/nucleon and impinged on a Pb206 target. Deexciting γ rays from the low-lying excited states of the target and the pro
Searching with and against each other : Spatiotemporal coordination of visual search behavior in collaborative and competitive settings
Although in real life people frequently perform visual search together, in lab experiments this social dimension is typically left out. Here, we investigate individual, collaborative and competitive visual search with visualization of search partners' gaze. Participants were instructed to search a grid of Gabor patches while being eye tracked. For collaboration and competition, searchers were show
Cognition in the fast lane : ravens’ gazes are half as short as humans’ when choosing objects
Time cannot be directly perceived; instead, its flow is inferred from the influx of sensory information. To prevent sensory overload, attentional mechanisms split up information into processable units. This portioning remains imperceptible to the individual. However, the length of these units still influences the speed of perception and the speed at which behaviors are performed. Previous studies
