The effect of uncertainty on stock market volatility and correlation

In this study, we use an extension of the heterogeneous autoregressive model to investigate the influence of time-varying risk aversion and macroeconomic, financial, and economic policy uncertainty measures on stock market volatility and correlation. Based on the findings, there is a stronger predictive ability of these variables at the monthly frequency than at the daily frequency. We also highli

An HPA-1a–positive platelet–depleting agent for prevention of fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia : a randomized, single-blind, placebo–controlled, single-center, phase 1/2 proof-of-concept study

Background: Fetal/neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT) is a rare and potentially life-threatening bleeding disorder of the fetus/newborn. Antibodies against human platelet antigen 1a (HPA-1a) are associated with the most frequent FNAIT cases. There are no approved therapies for FNAIT prevention or treatment. RLYB211 is a polyclonal HPA-1a hyperimmune IgG being developed to prevent FNAIT. O

Anatomy of rocky planets formed by rapid pebble accretion : III. Partitioning of volatiles between planetary core, mantle, and atmosphere

Volatile molecules containing hydrogen, carbon, and nitrogen are key components of planetary atmospheres. In the pebble accretion model for rocky planet formation, these volatile species are accreted during the main planetary formation phase. For this study, we modelled the partitioning of volatiles within a growing planet and the outgassing to the surface. The core stores more than 90% of the hyd

Anatomy of rocky planets formed by rapid pebble accretion : I. How icy pebbles determine the core fraction and FeO contents

We present a series of papers dedicated to modelling the accretion and differentiation of rocky planets that form by pebble accretion within the lifetime of the protoplanetary disc. In this first paper, we focus on how the accreted ice determines the distribution of iron between the mantle (oxidized FeO and FeO1.5) and the core (metallic Fe and FeS). We find that an initial primitive composition o

As an urban public policy analysis : the relation between vocational education and training (vet) and municipalities

It is one of the most basic requirements of today for sustainable social and economic development that individuals have the knowledge, skills and competencies appropriate to the requirements of the age. Vocational education and training (VET) is an important role that determine social and economic development levels of countries as well as urban growth. In general, vocational education is consider

Liposuction for Advanced Lymphedema in a Multidisciplinary Team Setting in Australia - Five-Year Follow-Up

Animals and the Politics of Suffering : Essays on Law, Care and Interspecies Relations

För detta ändamål använder avhandlingen rättssociologiska och tvärThis compilation thesis aims to develop an understanding of the ethical, legal and political implications associated with different strategies to address the suffering of animals caused by industrialised agriculture. Based on qualitative analysis conducted in Denmark, the research explores how ethical commitment to the situation of farmed animals is negotiated across different domains. The thesis

Inner transitions in higher education in Sweden: incorporating intra-personal skills in education for sustainable development

Humanity is facing an unprecedented challenge of climate crises. Rapid changes to the physical environment and living conditions will be accompanied by challenges to mental health and well-being. Consequently, education for sustainable development should also include coping strategies for stress and anxiety. Adding intra-personal skills to the curriculum, such as self-reflection and mindfulness tr

Supporting young adults with mental health problems in their career goals and transition to work and study

Introduction: Mental health problems often manifest at a young age when a person is studying with a view to gettinga job. Young adults are a vulnerable group when entering the labour market. If they also experience mental healthproblems, their entry is likely to be postponed indefinitely, thus increasing the risk of early social marginalisation. Workis closely linked to how we identify ourselves a

Cerebrospinal fluid neurofilament light predicts longitudinal diagnostic change in patients with psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders

Objective People with neuropsychiatric symptoms often experience delay in accurate diagnosis. Although cerebrospinal fluid neurofilament light (CSF NfL) shows promise in distinguishing neurodegenerative disorders (ND) from psychiatric disorders (PSY), its accuracy in a diagnostically challenging cohort longitudinally is unknown. Methods We collected longitudinal diagnostic information (mean=36 mon

Open mouth operations: Monetary policy by threats and arguments : The monthly meetings between the Riksbank and the commercial banks, 1956-1973

After World War II and prior to the financial deregulation of the 1980s,monetary policy in Sweden as well as in other western Europeancountries rested chiefly on a system of far-reaching non-market-orientedcontrols of credit flows and interest rates. How was monetary policyconducted in such an environment of financial repression, where thecentral bank was unable to rely on traditional monetary pol

A fast blind source separation algorithm for decomposing ultrafast ultrasound images into spatiotemporal muscle unit kinematics

Objective. Ultrasound can detect individual motor unit (MU) activity during voluntary isometric contractions based on their subtle axial displacements. The detection pipeline, currently performed offline, is based on displacement velocity images and identifying the subtle axial displacements. This identification can preferably be made through a blind source separation (BSS) algorithm with the feas

Association between obstructive sleep apnoea and cancer : a cross-sectional, population-based study of the DISCOVERY cohort

Objectives Nocturnal hypoxia in obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a potential risk factor for cancer. We aimed to investigate the association between OSA measures and cancer prevalence in a large national patient cohort. Design Cross-sectional study. Settings 44 sleep centres in Sweden. Participants 62 811 patients from the Swedish registry for positive airway pressure (PAP) treatment in OSA, link

Thrombosis risk with estrogen use for puberty induction in congenital disorders of glycosylation

Congenital disorders of glycosylation are a group of rare related disorders causing multisystem dysfunction, including ovarian failure in females that requires early estrogen replacement. Glycosylation defects also disrupt normal synthesis of several coagulation factors, increasing thrombotic risks and complicating hormone replacement. This series describes four females with different types of CDG

Geometric impact and dose estimation of on-patient placement of a lightweight receiver coil in a clinical magnetic resonance imaging-only radiotherapy workflow for prostate cancer

Background and Purpose: For pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-only radiotherapy the use of receiver coil bridges (CB) is recommended to avoid deformation of the patient. Development in coil technology has enabled lightweight, flexible coils. In this work we evaluate the effects of a lightweight coil in a pelvic MRI-only radiotherapy workflow. Materials and Methods: Twenty-one patients, refer

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation: Set-up, Indications, and Complications

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) occupies an increasingly important position in the clinic for the management of cardiac and/or pulmonary failure. As a rescue therapy, ECMO can support patients following respiratory or cardiac compromise to act as a bridge to recovery, to decision, or to transplant. This chapter reviews briefly the history of ECMO implementation as well as device modes,

CDF II W-mass anomaly faces first-order electroweak phase transition

We suggest an appealing strategy to probe a large class of scenarios beyond the Standard Model simultaneously explaining the recent CDF II measurement of the W boson mass and predicting first-order phase transitions (FOPT) testable in future gravitational-wave (GW) experiments. Our analysis deploys measurements from the GW channels and high energy particle colliders. We discuss this methodology fo
