WozARd: a wizard of oz tool for mobile AR

Wizard of Oz methodology is useful when conducting user studies of a system that is in early development. It is essential to be able to simulate part of the system and to collect feedback from potential users. Using a human to act as the system is one way to do this. The Wizard of Oz tool presented here is called WozARd and it aims at offering a set of tools that help the test leader control the

Confederations and Mergers: Convenience Rather Than True Love

BOOK SYNOPSIS: Throughout the industrialised world trade unionists are reforming their organisations as part of a strategy to adjust to new labour market, economic and political circumstances. This volume examines the role of merger activity in this process of reform. The book identifies the pattern of merger activity, the factors that promote its development and its impact on union structure and

Att återskapa det förflutna - mellan kunskap och upplevelse

This text shows how the use of archaeological evicence in reconstructing the past give different views of each period in the past, from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. Reconstructing the past is an adventure based on both knowledge and experience.

Genetic Factors and Nasal Tolerance in Rat Models for Rheumatoid Arthritis

We used three animal models of rats for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in this study. Firstly, We found that CXI induced arthritis (CXIIA) is associated with the RT1 f haplotype and follows a chronic disease course affecting peripheral joints with both progression and relapses. The main difference of pathological changes in CXIIA rats against rats with CIIIA was a larger number of infiltrating lymphocy

The intermetallic oxidation of Pd(100)

We have studied the Pd(100)-(√5×√5)-O structure formed by adsorption of 0.8 ML of oxygen by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), High Resolution Core Level Spectroscopy (HRCLS) and Density Functional Theory (DFT). We show that a recent tensor Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED) analysis of the Pd(100)-(√5×√5)-O structure is incompatible with our results from this structure. A new model that is

Handledning av kandidat- och magisteruppsatser.

Difficulties had been identified with regard to bachelor and master theses. The quality varied too much, as did supervision. The report discusses possible ways of improving the situations, looking at other departments at Lund University, as well as the Copenhagen Business School. The report suggests some measures for improving the process as well as for supporting supervisors.

Epidemiology and population structure of Campylobacter jejuni and related organisms in wild birds

Campylobacter jejuni is one of the most common causes to bacterial gastroenteritis in the industrialised world. Also other species of the Campylobacter genus give rise to human infections. C. jejuni occurs in many different animal hosts and can be isolated from water sources. This thesis deals with the occurrence and population structure of this bacterium and related organisms in wild birds. Using

Microbial remediation of heavy metal ion polluted soil and water

Contamination of soil and water by heavy metal ions (HMs) is a problem all over the world. The use of biological methods alone or in combination with other techniques for treatment of such polluted sites constitutes a major challenge. The present thesis summarizes work based on four basic technologies: 1) use of Sulphate Reducing Bacteria (SRBs) for production of hydrogen sulphide which is used to

Hydrolytic and oxidative catalytic activities of bio-inspired dinuclear metal complexes

Denna del av enzymet kallas dess aktiA number of homo- and heterodinuclear complexes have been synthesized as structural and functional models for the the active sites of phosphoesterases and soluble methane monooxygenases. The complexes are based on four new dinucleating ligands containing a central, potentially bridging, phenolate moiety. The hydrolytic activity of the complexes was examined by exploring the ability of the complexe
