Avsikten är att beskriva och tolka avd som utspelar sig i samtal mellan barn och pedagoger när barn förväntas lösa probeThe overiding aim of this study is to promote an increace in the knowledge regarding school children´s learning and meaning construction, whereby teachers attempt to exceed traditional ways of learning by combining asthetics and rationality as an integration of the learning process. The aim is to describe and interpret that which occurs in discussions between teachers and the children, when the ch

Role of arachidonic acid metabolites in airway responses induced by trimellitic anhydride in actively sensitized guinea pigs

We studied the role of arachidonic acid metabolites, histamine, and 5-HT in airway responses to trimellitic anhydride (TMA) in actively sensitized guinea pigs. Sensitization was produced by two intradermal injections of free TMA (0.1 ml of 0.3% TMA in corn oil). After 21 to 28 days, guinea pigs were anesthetized and challenged with intratracheal instillation of 0.5% TMA conjugated to guinea pig se

Autodetachment of the nsnp2 4P1/2 states in negative ions

The purpose of this work is to compute the autodetachment rates of the nsnp2 P-4(1/2) levels for Be-(2s2p2), Mg-(3s3p2) and Ca-(4s4p2) . Fano's configuration interaction model is implemented to compute the interaction between the discrete and continuum spaces of the wavefunction, which are determined using the multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock technique. Analysing the decay mechanism of the P-4(1/2)

Beta camera low activity tumor imaging

A new technique, the beta camera, to complement film autoradiography, with fast quantitative imaging of beta particle-emitting radionuclides has been developed. It consists of a thin plastic scintillator and a light-sensitive microchannel plate detector. The thin tissue sample is mounted on the scintillator. Our first system had a high background and a moderate spatial resolution of 900 microns. W

Unique epitopes of glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies in slowly progressive type 1 diabetes.

Disease-specific epitope profiles of glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD)65 autoantibodies (GAD65Ab) were studied in slowly progressive type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus (SPIDDM) and acute onset type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus (AIDDM) using seven kinds of GAD65/67 chimeric molecules. Sera obtained from Japanese SPIDDM (n = 17) and AIDDM (n = 46) patients followed prospectively

Moisture Transport in Porous Media. Modelling Based on Kirchhoff Potentials

Popular Abstract in Swedish Avhandlingen innehåller sju artiklar. Modeller för beräkning av fuktinträngning vid stegäThe work presented in this thesis is focused on the development of the new concept to describe isothermal moisture transport using Kirchhoff potentials. The first four papers deal with moisture transport in porous media using Kirchhoff potentials. The last three papers deal with wood. Here the theory is extended to the case of anisotropic moisture transport. The seven papers have the following con

Daedalus flykt

The Swedish inventor and scientist Christopher Polhem (1661-1751) has been called the Daedalus of the North. This article concerns the picture of Polhem through the ages, what has been written concerning him, and about the still surprisingly modest research on him. First gives a short introduction to Polhem. His own life story, put forward by himself, has had an immense influence on the following

Parameterization and evaluation of sulfate adsorption in a dynamic soil chemistry model.

Sulfate adsorption was implemented in the dynamic, multi-layer soil chemistry model SAFE. The process is modeled by an isotherm in which sulfate adsorption is considered to be fully reversible and dependent on sulfate concentration as well as pH in soil solution. The isotherm was parameterized by a site-specific series of simple batch experiments at different pH (3.8–5.0) and sulfate concentration

European GIS Course Developments-Partner expectations, experiences and results in the E-GIS Project

The E-GIS project partnership comprised 10 partners (universities, organisations and private bodies) from 6 European countries; Bulgaria, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden. The E-GIS project was initiated in order to: • Establish competent nettworks between universities and private bodies for cooperation on an European level within the GIS area – both for this project and fo

Intermittent and daily smokers: two different socioeconomic patterns, and diverging influence of social participation

OBJECTIVE: To investigate socioeconomic differences in intermittent and daily smoking, and to assess the association between social participation and these two smoking behaviours.DESIGN/SETTING/PARTICIPANTS/MEASUREMENTS: A population of 11 837 individuals interviewed in 1992-94, aged 45-64 years, was investigated in this cross sectional study. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to a

Integrated Test Scheduling, Test Parallelization and TAM Design

We propose a technique integrating test scheduling, scan chain partitioning and test access mechanism (TAM) design minimizing the test time and the TAM routing cost while considering test conflicts and power constraints. Main features of our technique are (1) the flexibility in modelling the systems test behaviour and (2) the support for interconnection test of unwrapped cores and user-defined log

Results from a nationwide postmarketing cohort study of patients in Sweden treated with etanercept

Objectives: To describe a nationwide system for postmarketing follow up of new antirheumatic drugs in Sweden, and to analyse safety and effectiveness in an etanercept treated patient cohort. Methods: Etanercept became available in Sweden for prescribing on a named patient basis in 1999. All patients treated were included in a follow up of intensified adverse event reporting and recording of clinic

Measurement and uncertainties of energy loss in silicon over a wide Z(1) range using time of flight detector telescopes

The energy loss of projectiles with Z(1) in the range 3-26 has been experimentally measured in the 0.1-0.7 MeV per nucleon energy range in the same Si stopping foil of 105.5 mug cm(-2) thickness using a time of flight-energy (ToF-E) elastic recoil detection analysis (ERDA) setup. A detailed study of the experimental uncertainties for ToF-E and ToF-ToF-E configuration has been made. For ERDA config

Endogenous androgens and risk of epithelial ovarian cancer: results from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC).

Few epidemiologic studies have examined the hypothesis that circulating androgens are involved in the development of ovarian cancer. We investigated the association between prediagnostic serum levels of androgens and sex hormone–binding globulin (SHBG) and ovarian cancer risk in a case-control study nested within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort. One hundred

CHICSi measures charged particles and fragments from nuclear reactions. It operates at internal targets of storage rings. In order to optimize space and momentum-space coverage and minimize th

The max-log list algorithm (MLLA) - A list-sequence decoding algorithm that provides soft-symbol output

We present a soft decoding algorithm for convolutional codes that simultaneously yields soft-sequence output, i.e., list sequence (LS) decoding, and soft-symbol output. The max-log list algorithm (MLLA) introduced in this paper provides near- optimum soft-symbol output equal to that of the max-log maximum a posteriori (MAP) probability algorithm. Simultaneously, the algorithm produces an ordered l

Regendered Narratives of Mobility: ‘A Vroom With a View’

This article takes a look at the road-trip handbook The Bad Girl’s Guide to the Open Road by Cameron Tuttle (1999). This recent narrative of mobility, it argues, carries on the feminist legacy of road stories such as Thelma & Louise (Scott 1991) and Flaming Iguanas (Lopez 1998) continuing their paving of the way for women’s self-re-presentation on the road and the regendering of the traditiona
