Nils Wohlin och frågan om arvssedvänjor

Nils Wohlin and the question of inheritance patternsIt has long been assumed that inheritance patterns varied strongly betweendifferent regions. In the early 20th century statistician Nils Wohlin made afamous account of Swedish inheritance patterns, claiming significant differences between Swedish provinces, especially between eastern and western Sweden. Newer studies of inheritance patterns have

Fake it till you make it : Heritage in action as a performative strategy at the Kulturen museum in Lund

Bidrag till tematisk issue museer - interpretation and experience. redaktörer Iveta Pirgova och Nicolay Nenov. artikel är översatt till bulgariskaThis article uses ethnographic methods to analyze how cultural and economic factors impact the way heritage is understood, preserved and developed at Kulturen and Fredriksdal, two of the oldest museums of cultural history museums in Sweden. Some questions offered for discussion will include: How does leadership understand and conceptualize cultural heritage? Whose cultural heritage count the most

Energy efficiency in SMEs : overcoming the communication barrier

This article discusses ineffective knowledge and information communication as an important barrier to improving energy efficiency in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and considers how to make functional communication an enabler of future SME energy-efficiency programmes. Energy audits – important tools when addressing energy efficiency in companies – are often performed by professionals w

Investigation of pig ear skin by IR-imaging and Far-IR spectroscopy

Synchrotron radiation is used in ATR-Far-IR investigations of pig ear skin. Characteristic protein and water bands are assigned. The results are compared to low-wavenumber Raman spectra. IR-imaging is performed to show the distribution of water, proteins and lipids for pig ear tissue slices.

Antioxidant activity of phosphatidyl derivatives of hydroxytyrosol in edible oils

A comparative study of the antioxidant activity of hydroxytyrosol (HT) and phosphatidyl derivatives of hydroxytyrosol (PHT) added at increasing concentrations to diverse edible oils (lard oil, refined olive oil, and diacylglycerol-rich oil) was performed. Antioxidant activity index was estimated as the ratio of induction time in presence of the compounds to induction time in their absence, after o

Autonomous conversion of information to work in quantum dots

We consider an autonomous implementation of Maxwell's demon in a quantum dot architecture acting on a system without changing its number of particles or its energy. As in the original thought experiment, only the second law of thermodynamics is seemingly violated when disregarding the demon. The autonomous architecture allows us to compare descriptions in terms of information to a more traditional

Anti-windup scheme for networked proportional-integral control

We propose an anti-windup scheme for a class of control problems. This class, includes networked systems, where each node contains a subsystem and each edge comprise a control action. The networked anti-windup control system is proposed to address the issues caused by integrator state saturation. We show that the suggested control scheme is input-output stable. Furthermore, we provide a numerical

Thinking with Performance : Research-Based Aesthetics in Times of Conflict and Crisis

Thinking with Performance: Research-Based Aesthetics in Times of Conflict and Crisis is an artistic research project in which I examine how to critically think with performance. My main thesis is that research-based performance uses research to respond to conflict and crisis and to create spaces for thinking where artist and audience can reflect on the represented material. As such the research-ba

Reclaim Challenge : Rethinking the Critical Impact of an Education of Performance Art in Denmark

As the Danish National School of Performing Arts merged nine schools into one institution, the momentum for establishing a national, state-funded education in performance art was missed and the continuation of “traditional” profiles within performing arts education was kept. As such, the future of performance art can be seen as a kind of “supplementary technique” to otherwise acting- and text-base

Factor structure of the Friends and Family interview

The aim of this study was to specify the latent construct structure of the Friends and Family Interview (FFI: Steele & Steele, 2005) based on its dimensional scale coding protocol. The FFI is a semi-structured interview measuring attachment in middle childhood. We analyzed data from 341 FFI interviews with children aged 7–12 years, recruited in the Scandinavian Öresund Region. Exploratory Fact
