An algorithm has been developed for decomposing a linear dynamic system into subsystems, building up a multilevel control system. The theory for the decomposition is based upon graph theory. The graph is constructed from the coefficient matrix. In order to make the decomposition in a systematic way, a matrix, called the reachability matrix, which is based upon the graph, is introduced.
