Regulation and Function of the Human Leukotriene D4 Receptor CysLT1 in Epithelial Cells and Colon Cancer

Når det skadede områThe pro-inflammatory mediators leukotrienes have shown to be important players in the pathogenesis of diseases like asthma and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Patients suffering from IBD have been found to have an increased risk of developing colon cancer. Since leukotrienes have been shown in increased concentrations in stools of IBD patients we hypothesise that LTD4 can play a role in the deve

Characterization of Secondary Metabolites from Natural Sources

Natural products have contributed for many years to the development of new medicines for the treatment of diseases. Their structural diversity and complexity have inspired chemists to produce interesting compounds with pharmaceutical use. Although many pharmaceutical companies have eliminated or scaled down their natural products research, they still remain an important source of new drugs. This

Experience of Policy Instruments for Energy Efficiency in Buildings in the Nordic Countries

The Nordic countries have often been seen as “fore-runners” of energy efficiency in buildings in terms of both 1) the implementation of policy instruments and 2) the evaluation of actual effects. Since the 1970s, the Nordic countries have introduced a range of policy instruments for energy conservation in buildings. Interestingly, there are contrasting policy “styles” and experiences across the No

Elderly Immigrants, Socio-economic Status and Health. An epidemiological study of cardiovascular risk factors, impaired mobility and self-reported health status.

Enligt Statistiska centralbyrån (SCB) var 11,5 % av Sveriges befolkning utlandsföAims: To analyse the relationship between country of birth/ethnicity, socio-economic status (SES) and impaired mobility, impaired working capacity, cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors, health behaviours among those with CVD risk factors, self-reported health status, impaired instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) and all-cause mortality. Methods: Two main data sources were used: the

A psychological process approach to decision making : Post-decision restructuring of value conflicts

KRecent research has shown that when decision makers in retrospect are asked to reproduce attractiveness evaluations (of aspects) of important characteristics (attributes) of a chosen and a non-chosen choice alternative, they exaggerate the attractiveness difference between the alternatives. This post-decision attractiveness differentiation (consolidation) works in favor of the chosen alternative.
