Globala utsläppen ökar, men måste minska

Tax Incentives for Arts and Cultural Organizations

Many countries use tax legislation as a cultural policy instrument. This includes tax incentives for arts organizations and their benefactors. This chapter analyzes what a tax incentive is, what its positive and negative sides are, and how governments use it to support the arts and cultural organizations. Tax incentives for giving, the possibility of paying tax with art, reduced value added tax ra

The Geras Solutions Cognitive Test for Assessing Cognitive Impairment: Normative Data from a Population-Based Cohort

BackgroundThere is a need for the development of accurate, accessible and efficient screening instruments, focused on early-stage detection of neurocognitive disorders. The Geras Solutions cognitive test (GSCT) has showed potential as a digital screening tool for cognitive impairment but normative data are needed.ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to obtain normative data for the GSCT in cognitive

A review of machine learning and satellite imagery for poverty prediction: Implications for development research and applications

The field of artificial intelligence is seeing the increased application of satellite imagery to analyse poverty in its various manifestations. This nascent but rapidly growing intersection of scholarship holds the potential to help us better understand poverty by leveraging big data and recent advances in machine vision. In this study, we statistically analyse the literature in the expanding fiel

Siegel Disks of the Tangent Family

We study Siegel disks in the dynamics of functions from the tangent family. In particular, we prove that a Siegel disk is unbounded if and only if the boundary of its image contains at least one asymptotic value. Moreover, by using quasiconformal surgery we also construct functions in the above family with bounded Siegel disks.

EU State Aid Policy: Concealed Transfer of Competences?

This chapter concerns the role of competition policy, and in particular EU State aid rules, in the European integration process. The Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union contains a ban on State aid. However, this ban is not without exceptions. Through a centralized system, there is scope for exceptions in many policy areas. This also applies to areas where the member states are reluctan
