Clara's Arc(h): Navigating Higher Tides and Stronger Currents in a New Climate Norm

In the Age of Climate Disaster, 2024 has already branded itself as a record-breaking year in terms of environmental impacts. Extreme temperatures, drought, wildfires, earthquakes, floods, and rising sea levels are becoming a dire reality for many communities, and climate adaptation has become a widely discussed topic both within and outside the field of architecture. Clara’s Arc(h) is a utopian d

Combination of Searches for Resonant Higgs Boson Pair Production Using pp Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the ATLAS Detector

A combination of searches for a new resonance decaying into a Higgs boson pair is presented, using up to 139 fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The combination includes searches performed in three decay channels: bb[over ¯]bb[over ¯], bb[over ¯]τ^{+}τ^{-}, and bb[over ¯]γγ. No excess above the expected Standard Model background is observed a

The gut microbiota and diabetes : research, translation, and clinical applications – 2023 Diabetes, Diabetes Care, and Diabetologia Expert Forum

This article summarises the state of the science on the role of the gut microbiota (GM) in diabetes from a recent international expert forum organised by Diabetes, Diabetes Care, and Diabetologia, which was held at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes 2023 Annual Meeting in Hamburg, Germany. Forum participants included clinicians and basic scientists who are leading investigators in

How do patients experience and use home blood pressure monitoring? A qualitative analysis with UTAUT 2

Background: Hypertension is an important cardiovascular risk factor with potentially harmful consequences. Home blood pressure monitoring is a promising method for following the effect of hypertension treatment. The use of technology-enabled care and increased patient involvement might contribute to more effective treatment methods. However, more knowledge is needed to explain the motivations and

"It's an illusion. That's what I always say, we're not meant to get hurt." - En socialantroplogisk studie om wrestlare och fenomenet wrestling

This study aims to create a deeper understanding of wrestlers that are active in Sweden. The study makes an attempt to explore an understanding of how wrestlers themselves experience the usage of fake in relation to wrestling. The study has been conducted through interviews and observation. The material have then been theorized through the theories of play, reci- procity and front- and backstage.

Cognition as independent predictor of functional outcome after cardiac arrest

BackgroundCognitive function is often impaired for cardiac arrest (CA) survivors as an effect of hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. An important factor in CA recovery is global functional outcome, commonly assessed with the modified Rankin Scale (mRS). Little is known about the role of cognition as a potential predictor of outcome following CA.ObjectiveTo investigate cognitive function at hospital disBackgroundCognitive function is often impaired for cardiac arrest (CA) survivors as an effect of hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. Effective lifetime of Ni laser induced fluorescence excited at 336.9 nm during spark plug discharge

In this study, the laser induced fluorescence lifetime of Ni atoms in ambient air with presence of a plasma discharge was measured for the first time. Free Ni atoms were generated in air at a pressure of 1 bar by spark plug discharges driven by an inductive coil. The Ni atoms were excited at the 336.957 nm absorption line by a 336.96 nm, 90 ps laser pulse and the resulting temporally resolved deca

Solar drying of banana (“Jazi Kela”) in the rural area of Bhutan: Engineering and product quality aspects

Agriculture is the main employment in Bhutan, making it an agriculture-based economy. The project “Solar Food: Reducing post-harvest losses through improved solar drying” is to help indigenous people to preserve their food crops in a more efficient but still natural way by using solar energy for drying. A new idea arose to commercialize food items dried in the solar dryer instead, which would affe

Characterisation and Toxicity Assessment of Metal Ion-Enriched Nanoparticles

Cancer remains one of the main challenges in healthcare, with profound global impact both in terms of morbidity and mortality. Spago Nanomedical is a Swedish company that has developed innovative metal-ion enriched nanoparticle-based therapies for cancer treatment and diagnosis. These nanoparticles have shown great promise and are currently undergoing clinical trials, however, there persists a des

SCALING CONFLICTS THROUGH SYMBOLIC PLACE NARRATIVES: THE EMOTIVE GEOGRAPHY OF POWER DYNAMIC

This thesis investigates the role of sense of place narratives in the scaling of conflicts, using the Israel-Gaza conflict as a critical case study. Existing literature has extensively discussed scale framing and the significance of scale in conflict resolution but has not fully explored the mechanisms through which the scaling of conflicts occurs. The study aims to address this gap by proposing a

Multilevel barriers to guideline implementation - a nationwide multi- professional cross- sectional study within child and adolescent psychiatry

Background: Despite efforts to promote guideline use, guideline adoption is often suboptimal due to failure to identify and address relevant barriers. Barriers vary not only between guidelines but also between settings, intended users, and targeted patients. Multi-professional guidelines are often used in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), making the implementation process more d

Promoting public sector innovation: who does what, when and how?

A strong and prevailing innovation imperative is sweeping across the public sector and despite a growing literature on public sector innovation (PSI), the actors driving these processes tend to end up in the background of analysis. Based in an analytical framework of narrative theory and organization studies, and the efforts to introduce Social Impact Bonds (SIB) in Sweden as empirical case, the aA strong and prevailing innovation imperative is sweeping across the public sector and despite a growing literature on public sector innovation (PSI), the actors driving these processes tend to end up in the background of analysis.
