Simplifying QCD event generation with chirality flow, reference vectors and spin directions

The chirality-flow formalism, combined with good choices of gauge reference vectors, simplifies tree-level calculations to the extent that it is often possible to write down amplitudes corresponding to Feynman diagrams immediately. It has also proven to give a very sizable speedup in a proof of concept implementation of massless tree-level QED in MadGraph5_aMC@NLO. In the present paper we extend t

Flood risk assessments—Exploring maturity and challenges in Sweden

Floods are destructive to society. Hence, to assess and manage flood risk is imperative. Flood risk assessments require several layers of analysis, from flood hazard to societal impact. This paper explores the maturity level and challenges related to three components of a comprehensive risk assessment: flood hazard, direct consequences, and indirect consequences. This is achieved by introducing an

Supercurrent transport through 1e -periodic full-shell Coulomb islands

We experimentally investigate supercurrent through Coulomb islands, where island and leads are fabricated from semiconducting nanowires with fully surrounding superconducting shells. Applying flux along the wire yields a series of destructive Little-Parks lobes with reentrant supercurrent. We find Coulomb blockade with 2e peak spacing in the zeroth lobe and 1e average spacing, with regions of sign

New movements in entrepreneurship

'Drawing from contributions by scholars of entrepreneurship from North America, Western Europe and Asia, this edited book celebrates the vibrancy and interdisciplinarity of entrepreneurship research. It showcases the renewed importance of entrepreneurship studies in the social sciences. New Movements in Entrepreneurship is a tour de force in entrepreneurship studies that must not be missed. It's b

Enhanced surveillance of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Europe : an evaluation of the I-MOVE-COVID-19 surveillance network

Background: A pre-existing, well-established European influenza surveillance network known as I-MOVE enabled the rapid implementation of a European multi-country COVID-19 hospital surveillance network for surveillance of hospitalized COVID-19 cases in early 2020. This network included 257 hospitals in 11 surveillance sites across nine countries. We aimed to identify whether the surveillance object

Automated Multi-Atlas Segmentation of Hippocampal and Extrahippocampal Subregions in Alzheimer's Disease at 3T and 7T : What Atlas Composition Works Best?

BACKGROUND: Multi-atlas segmentation, a popular technique implemented in the Automated Segmentation of Hippocampal Subfields (ASHS) software, utilizes multiple expert-labelled images ("atlases") to delineate medial temporal lobe substructures. This multi-atlas method is increasingly being employed in early Alzheimer's disease (AD) research, it is therefore becoming important to know how the constr

Mapping the structural and functional network architecture of the medial temporal lobe using 7T MRI

Medial temporal lobe (MTL) subregions play integral roles in memory function and are differentially affected in various neurological and psychiatric disorders. The ability to structurally and functionally characterize these subregions may be important to understanding MTL physiology and diagnosing diseases involving the MTL. In this study, we characterized network architecture of the MTL in health

Exposure to comprehensive sexuality education in schools in South Africa : the implications on the uptake of HIV testing services among HIV positive adolescent girls

Comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) is seen as a key instrument through which to affect behaviour and improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes amongst adolescents. However, few studies have to date evaluated key SRH outcomes following exposure to CSE within a school setting. This study estimates the association between CSE and HIV testing and HIV testing self-efficacy amongst HIV

Midwives' Experiences of Intact Cord Resuscitation in Nonvigorous Neonates After Vaginal Birth in Sweden

OBJECTIVE: To describe midwives' experiences of intact cord resuscitation close to the mother for nonvigorous neonates after vaginal birth.DESIGN: Descriptive qualitative.SETTING: Four labor wards in Sweden.PARTICIPANTS: Midwives (N = 13) currently or previously employed in labor wards where the Sustained Cord Circulation and Ventilation (SAVE) study was conducted.METHODS: We analyzed semistructur

A Delphi method investigation to prioritize activity-related determinants thought to affect mental health in adolescent populations

Introduction: Emergent mental illness during adolescence affects daily functioning, causing disruption to daily activities, routines, and patterns. Multiple inter-related personal, social and environmental determinants influence the onset, nature and subsequent course of those difficulties. Research suggests a bi-directional relationship exists between mental health and activity choices. Activity-
