The effects of Dickkopf-1 antibody on metaphyseal bone and implant fixation under different loading conditions

Abstract in UndeterminedThe secreted protein Dickkopf-1 (Dkk1) is an antagonist of canonical Wnt signaling, expressed during fracture healing. It is unclear how it is involved in the mechanical control of bone maintenance. We investigated the response to administration of a Dkk1 neutralizing antibody (Dkk1-ab) in metaphyseal bone under different loading conditions, with or without trauma. In this

Elemental Abundance Variation with Particle Size in Aerosols from Welding Operations

The effect of airborne particulate matter on human health is today of considerable research interest. Essential parameters include elemental composition sampling with low pressure cascade impactors and analysis by particle induced x-ray emission spectroscopy (PIXE). It is shown that the aerosol generated by arc welding operations is several orders of magnitude denser than aerosols in ambient air.

In 2008, Malmoe City Library, a public library situated in the third largest city of Sweden, initiated an ambitious strategy for renewal and change of their services. The strategy was given the name The Darling Library and expressed a vision to enf

Ribonucleases and host defense: identification, localization and gene expression in adherent monocytes in vitro

Several ribonucleases of the RNase A family function as antibacterial, anti-parasitic and anti-viral agents. In this work, we have shown that mRNAs encoding five of the six known human ribonucleases of the RNase A family are expressed in cultured human monocytes, and that ribonucleases are released by adherent monocytes in culture. Using a polyclonal antiserum prepared against recombinant protein,

The Activity Diamond - Modeling an Enhanced Accessibility

The purpose of the research presented in this thesis is to enhance the field of accessibility to include a multitude of perspectives. Based on cultural-historical activity theory (CHAT), it analyzes how human, artifactual and natural factors impact an individual’s possibilities to act in concrete situations that are part of a systemic whole. The thesis presents two main results:An enhanced accessib
