Spatial and temporal patterns of economic segregation in Sweden’s metropolitan areas : A mobility approach

The statistical resources at hand for segregation research are usually almost exclusively confined to annual or decennial records where the only available spatial information is the individual’s place of residence. This coarse temporal periodicity and spatial resolution provides a very limited account of people’s diurnal lives. Incorporating mobility and temporal dimensions in segregation analysis

Outcomes of liver-first strategy and classical strategy for synchronous colorectal liver metastases in Sweden

Background: Patients with synchronous colorectal liver metastases (sCRLM) are increasingly operated with liver resection before resection of the primary cancer. Is carotid imaging underused in patients with transient ischemic attack or ischemic stroke? A Swedish Stroke Register (Riksstroke) study

Background and aim: Carotid artery stenosis is one of the major causes of transient ischemic attack (TIA) and acute ischemic stroke (IS), and carotid surgery and stenting are used to reduce the risk of ipsilateral IS. However, the adherence to the recommendation of carotid imaging in clinical practice has not been well studied. We analyzed proportions of carotid imaging and determinants for its no

Climate warming and land-use changes drive broad-scale floristic changes in Southern Sweden

Land-use changes, pollution and climate warming during the 20th century havecaused changes in biodiversity across the world. However, in many cases, the environmental drivers are poorly understood. To identify and rank the drivers currentlycausing broad-scale floristic changes in N Europe, we analysed data from two vascularplant surveys of 200 randomly selected 2.5 9 2.5 km grid-squares in Scania,

Patient education-level affects treatment allocation and prognosis in esophageal- and gastroesophageal junctional cancer in Sweden

Background Low socioeconomic status and poor education elevate the risk of developing esophageal- and junctional cancer. High education level also increases survival after curative surgery. The present study aimed to investigate associations, if any, between patient education-level and treatment allocation after diagnosis of esophageal- and junctional cancer and its subsequent impact on survival.

Destabilising Citizenship Practices? : Social work and undocumented migrants in Sweden

Globalisering av ekonomin, människors rörelser över nationsgränser såväl som ett ökat fokus på gränskontroller och säkerhet, har utmanat och delvis destabiliserat idéer om nationell tillhörighet och solidaritet. Denna avhandling bidrar till analysGlobalisation of the economy, as well as movement of people and increasing securitisation of borders, have challenged and to different degrees destabilised forms of national belonging and solidarity. Such developments produce new borders and boundaries, separate citizens from non-citizens and create hierarchies of “deservingness”. This dissertation contributes to the analysis of these developments

Improved Housing Accessibility for Older People in Sweden and Germany : Short Term Costs and Long-Term Gains

The physical housing environment is important to facilitate activities of daily living (ADL) for older people. A hindering environment may lead to ADL dependence and thus increase the need for home services, which is individually restricting and a growing societal burden. This study presents simulations of policy changes with regard to housing accessibility that estimates the potential impact spec
