Low-, medium-, and high-spin states in the N=Z+1 nucleus 63Ga
The fusion-evaporation reaction 28Si+40Ca at 122 MeV beam energy was used to populate excited states in the N=Z+1 nucleus 63Ga. With the combination of the Gammasphere spectrometer and the Microball CsI(Tl) charged-particle detector array, the level scheme of 63Ga was extended by more than a factor of two in terms of number of γ-ray transitions and excited states, excitation energy (Ex>30 MeV), an
Associations Between Endometriosis and Gut Microbiota
The gut microbiota has been associated with many diseases, including endometriosis. However, very few studies have been conducted on this topic in human. This study aimed to investigate the association between endometriosis and gut microbiota. Women with endometriosis (N=66) were identified at the Department of Gynaecology and each patient was matched with three controls (N=198) from the general p
Spreading a Norm-based Policy? Sweden's Feminist Foreign Policy in International Media
Since 2014, Sweden has pursued the world's first Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP). However, the effectiveness of its policy promotion depends on how Sweden's efforts to spread this norm-based policy are perceived and evaluated by other states. We argue that a policy promotion effort has to be perceived as legitimate, coherent and salient by target populations in order to be effective. We investigate

Global Hypoellipticity and Compactness of Resolvent for Fokker-Planck Operator
In this paper we study the Fokker-Planck operator with potential V (x), and analyze some kind of conditions imposed on the potential to ensure the validity of global hypoelliptic estimates (see Theorem 1.1). As a consequence, we obtain the compactness of resolvent of the Fokker-Planck operator if either the Witten Laplacian on 0-forms has a compact resolvent or some additional assumption on the be

The meaning of surviving three years after a heart transplant—a transition from uncertainty to acceptance through adaptation
The rationale was to longitudinally follow-up interviews performed with heart recipients at their one-year examination in order to deepen the understanding of the meaning of surviving a heart transplant. The aim was to explore the meaning of surviving three years after a heart transplant compared to one year and to identify what constitutes the change process. A phenomenological–hermeneutic method
Retinal Ganglion Cell Topography and Spatial Resolving Power in Echolocating and Non-Echolocating Bats
Bats are nocturnal mammals known for their ability to echolocate, yet all bats can see, and most bats of the family Pteropodidae (fruit bats) do not echolocate-instead they rely mainly on vision and olfaction to forage. We investigated whether echolocating bats, given their limited reliance on vision, have poorer spatial resolving power (SRP) than pteropodids and whether tongue click echolocating
Biomarker testing in MCI patients—deciding who to test
Background: We aimed to derive an algorithm to define the optimal proportion of patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in whom cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) testing is of added prognostic value. Methods: MCI patients were selected from the Amsterdam Dementia Cohort (n = 402). Three-year progression probabilities to dementia were predicted using previously published models with and without CSF d
IGF1, serum glucose, and retinopathy of prematurity in extremely preterm infants
BACKGROUND. Hyperglycemia, insulin insensitivity, and low IGF1 levels in extremely preterm infants are associated with an increased risk of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), but the interactions are incompletely understood. METHODS. In 117 extremely preterm infants, serum glucose levels and parenteral glucose intake were recoded daily in the first postnatal week. Serum IGF1 levels were measured we
Epitaxial Graphene Growth on the Step-Structured Surface of Off-Axis C-Face 3C-SiC(1¯1¯1¯)
Graphene layers grown on the C-face SiC exhibit quite different structural and electronic properties compared with those grown on the Si-face SiC. Herein, the growth and structural properties of graphene on the off-axis C-face 3C-SiC((Formula presented.)) are studied. The as-grown 4° off-axis 3C-SiC((Formula presented.)) exhibits highly periodic steps with step height of ≈0.75 nm and terrace width
Austroplaca sibirica (lichenized Ascomycota, Teloschistaceae) – a bipolar lichen with an austral origin documented by molecular data
Based on molecular data, the austral lichen genus Austroplaca is shown to be represented in the Northern Hemisphere by the species Caloplaca sibirica. Accordingly, we make the combination Austroplaca sibirica. It grows on detritus and lignum in Canada, Greenland, Iceland, northern Scandinavia, Svalbard and Siberia and its southern range includes Patagonia (Argentina, Chile) and Kerguelen Islands.
Internal dose assessment of 148Gd using isotope ratios of gamma-emitting 146Gd or 153Gd in accidently released spallation target particles
The pure alpha emitter 148Gd may have a significant radiological impact in terms of internal dose to exposed humans in case of accidental releases from a spallation source using a tungsten target, such as the one to be used in the European Spallation Source (ESS). In this work we aim to present an approach to indirectly estimate the whole-body burden of 148Gd and the associated committed effective
