Prediction and exposure of delays from a base station perspective in 5G and beyond networks

The inherent flexibility of 5G networks come with a high degree of configuration and management complexity. This makes the performance outcome for UEs, more than ever, dependent on intricate configurations and interplay between algorithms at various network components. In this paper, we take initial steps towards a performance exposure system at the base station using a data-driven approach for pr

Emerging strategies in 3D printed tissue models for in vitro biomedical research

3D bioprinting has the potential to provide a unified framework for the manufacturing of tissue models for biomedical research, including drug discovery, disease modeling, and regenerative medicine. However, it remains challenging to 3D print replicas of human tissues that have accurate cell types, cellular densities, extracellular matrix compositions, and that can be assayed in a minimally invasi

Two-photon fluorescence lifetime imaging applied to the mixing of two non-isothermal sprays : temperature and mixing fraction measurements

Droplets temperature is a key parameter for the study of heat and mass transfers in many spray applications. Time correlated single photons counting (TCSPC) is applied to monitor the fluorescence decay and determine the droplet temperature in the mixing zone of two sprays which are injected with significantly different temperatures. For some well-chosen fluorescent dye, like rhodamine B (RhB), the

Seismic refraction survey to identify faults along a planned viaduct site in Constantine, Algeria: Application and comparison of tomography and generalized reciprocal method interpretations

The design and construction of large infrastructure projects require detailed information on subsurface geology and identification of potential risks. Geophysical investigations can provide important information for design and risk assessment provided that the optimal method and interpretation approach is adopted. This work presents results from seismic refraction surveys carried out along a planneThe design and construction of large infrastructure projects require detailed information on subsurface geology and identification of potential risks. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Defibrillator Use in Sports

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in young athletes is rare, with an estimated incidence ranging from 0.1 to 2 per 100,000 per athlete year. The creation of SCA registries can help provide accurate data regarding incidence, treatment, and outcomes and help implement primary or secondary prevention strategies that could change the course of these events. Early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defi

Changes in the Urinary Sodium-to-Potassium Ratio Are Associated with Blood Pressure Change in Older Japanese Adults : A 7-Year Longitudinal Study

Studies on the association between sodium-to-potassium (Na/K) ratio changes and blood pressure (BP) changes among older adults are limited. This 7-year longitudinal study examined the association between Na/K ratio changes (evaluated using spot urine tests) and BP changes among older Japanese adults. Data were collected from 432 participants (mean age: 70.3±4.4; range: 65–84 years) in 2012 and 201

CO2 and CH4 exchanges between moist moss tundra and atmosphere on Kapp Linné, Svalbard

We measured CO2 and CH4 fluxes using chambers and eddy covariance (only CO2) from a moist moss tundra in Svalbard. The average net ecosystem exchange (NEE) during the summer (9 June–31 August) was negative (sink), with −0.139 ± 0.032 µmol m−2 s−1 corresponding to −11.8 g C m−2 for the whole summer. The cumulated NEE over the whole growing season (day no. 160 to 284) was −2.5 g C m−2. The CH4 flux

Easy cleanups or forbearing improvements : The effect of CEO tenure on successor's performance

Long CEO tenure can harm firm performance even after the CEO is replaced. We analyze this issue by conditioning post-turnover firm performance on the length of the preceding CEO's tenure. Identification comes from instrumenting sudden CEO deaths as an exogenous shock to tenure length. We find that when a successor takes over after a long-tenured CEO, operating performance and stock returns are sig
