Limited availablity of COSMOS GPU nodes

Due to ongoing cooling issues, most COSMOS GPU nodes are currently unavailable.  Currently there are currently only two nodes with NVIDIA A100 cards and Intel processors available for GPU computing.   Check the LUNARC user guide (Read the docs website) for instructions on how to use these nodes using the batch system.   Unfortunately long queueing times are expected.LUNARC's on-demand applications

Debugging of HPC applications, 7 October 2025

Resolving problems in HPC applications, in particular parallel applications, can be a complicated and time consuming task. Modern code development tools greatly assist developers, when resolving common issues such as code crashes, wrong results, memory corruption and deadlock. This seminar we will provide an introduction to the Linaro DDT (formerly known as ARM DDT and Allinea DDT) debugger, which

The Conversation: How AI ‘sees’ the world – what happened when we trained a deep learning model to identify poverty

To most effectively deliver aid to alleviate poverty, you have to know where the people most in need are. In many countries, this is often done with household surveys. But these are usually infrequent and cover limited locations.Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have created a step change in how to measure poverty and other human development indicators. Our team has used a type of AI
