Disordered Kondo nanoclusters: Effect of energy spacing

Exact-diagonalization results for Kondo nanoclusters alloyed with mixed-valence impurities show that tuning the energy spacing Δ drives the system from the Kondo to the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) regime. The interplay of Δ and disorder gives rise to a Δ versus concentration T=0 phase diagram very rich in structure. The parity of the total number of electrons alters the competition betwee

Transformationer : valda texter från International Association of Scandinavian Studies (IASS) 28:e konferens i Lund 2010

How do readers interact with net papers? Does the new medium influence our way of searching for news? Does net-paper reading differ from newspaper reading? 12 users were asked to read 2 net-papers at their own pace. The aim of the study was partly to analyse reading behaviour on the Internet, partly to understand some of the underlying rationale and motivation of the behaviour. To achieve this aim

Immigration, Integration and Return Migration: The Swedish Experience

Return migration is an important phenomenon that involves a large share of all migrants, and has great potential for the enhancement of economic development, for instance through remittances and investments by migrants who are still abroad, and “brain gain” when migrants return with working experience from their former host countries. This paper deals with return migration, by refugee immigrants a

Evaluation of models for the steam supply system to improve control of the paper dryer

The possibility of reducing the transient times at grade changes in paper production and machine start-ups on the paper machines has highlighted the need for increased knowledge of the steam supply system. Models in this area have been presented in previous work and it is of interest to compare these models with each other and evaluate them against experimental data. This paper reports on the resu

Fortresses, Storehouses and Symbols - ambiguous churches of the Baltic Sea

Fortresses, Storehouses and Symbols - ambiguous churches of the Baltic Sea: Källa on Öland is used as a point of departure in a discussion of the so-called defensive churches or multi-functional churches at the Baltic Sea. The categorization of medieval society into four separate spheres, the church, the castle, the town and the countryside, is criticised as having created a heterogenous group of
