Exploring regression testing and software product line testing - research and state of practice

In large software organizations with a product line development approach a selective testing of product variants is necessary in order to keep pace with the decreased development time for new products, enabled by the systematic reuse. The close relationship between products in product line indicates an option to reduce the testing effort due to redundancy. In many cases test selection is performed

Algebraic Curves for Commuting Elements in the q-deformed Heisenberg Algebra

In this paper we extend the eliminant construction of Burchnall and Chaundy for commuting differential operators in the Heisenberg algebra to the q-deformed Heisenberg algebra and show that it again provides annihilating curves for commuting elements, provided q satisfies a natural condition. As a side result we obtain estimates on the dimensions of the eigenspaces of elements of this algebra in i

John's Gospel: A Two-Level Drama?

During the past decades, scholars have attempted to reconstruct the history of a Johannine community through reading John's Gospel as a two-level drama. According to this understanding, the Gospel relates events that took place in the community after Jesus' earthly ministry, while these events are presented as a story about Jesus himself. The present essay evaluates this allegorical reading of the

Definition of nocturnal gastroesophageal reflux for studies on respiratory diseases.

Objective Nocturnal gastroesophageal reflux (nGER) has been associated with respiratory diseases. Our aim was to study a questionnaire method to identify nGER subjects with respiratory involvement in a general population. Material and methods A subgroup of Icelandic participants in the European Community Respiratory Health Survey III (ECRHS III) reporting symptoms of nGER (n = 48) as well as age a

Pedagogical Review of Quantum Measurement Theory with an Emphasis on Weak Measurements

The quantum theory of measurement has been with us since quantum mechanics (QM) was invented. It has recently been invigorated, partly due to the increasing interest in quantum information science. In this, partly pedagogical review, I attempt to give a self-contained overview of the basis of (non-relativistic) QM measurement theory expressed in density matrix formalism. I will not dwell on the ap

Mouse recombinant protein C variants with enhanced membrane affinity and hyper-anticoagulant activity in mouse plasma.

Mouse anticoagulant protein C (461 residues) shares 69% sequence identity with its human ortholog. Interspecies experiments suggest that there is an incompatibility between mouse and human protein C, such that human protein C does not function efficiently in mouse plasma, nor does mouse protein C function efficiently in human plasma. Previously, we described a series of human activated protein C (

C4b-binding protein (C4BP) inhibits development of experimental arthritis in mice.

OBJECTIVES: To assess the human complement inhibitor C4b-binding protein (C4BP) for treatment of arthritis. METHODS: We have used two mouse models of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) to assess the therapeutic effect of C4BP on different phases of arthritis, the collagen antibody induced arthritis (CAIA), an acute antibody induced disease and the collagen induced arthritis (CIA), which carries the full co

Do Responsible Beverage Service Programs Reduce Breath Alcohol Concentration Among Patrons: A Five-Month Follow-up of a Randomized Controlled Trial.

Aims: To examine whether the decrease in the mean breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) and the rowdy social atmosphere reported after one month remained stable in the five-month assessment. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Setting: University bars. Participants: The five-month assessment was based on 596 students visiting student bars during ordinary pub evenings. Intervention: Bartenders (n =

Magnetism near the Van Hove singularity

We study the phase diagrams of the s-band and d-band Hubbard model in two dimensions including electron correlations. While the ferromagnetic instability in the s-band case occurs only near the Van Hove singularity, ferromagnetism is more stable in the d-band model, and the values of the Stoner parameters in transition metals are reduced below their LDA values.(14 refs)

Effect of conditioned stimulus parameters on timing of conditioned purkinje cell responses

Pavlovian eyeblink conditioning is a useful experimental model for studying adaptive timing, an important aspect of skilled movements. The conditioned response (CR) is precisely timed to occur just before the onset of the expected unconditioned stimulus (US). The timing can be changed immediately, however, by varying parameters of the conditioned stimulus (CS). It has previously been shown that in

Interstitial laser-induced thermotherapy: Influence of carbonization on lesion size

Background and Objective: The size of laser-induced coagulated lesions produced in porcine muscle in vitro using a cylindrical diffusing fiber tip and a conductive heat source, made by covering the diffuser with a hollow steel needle, were compared to investigate the influence of charring. Materials and methods: Light from a Nd: YAG laser was utilized for thermotherapy. A theoretical model for cal
