Nordic entrepreneurship research

This article describes and discusses Nordic entrepreneurship research (NER). It does so by providing a broader context for conducting entrepreneurship research, including historical, sociocultural, and disciplinary elements substantiating an understanding of "Nordic." Contextualizing NER this way, we attempt for the article to do what it says, i.e., to also write here in a style we argue is charac

Information Design in Bayesian Routing Games

We study optimal information provision in transportation networks when users are strategic and the network state is uncertain. An omniscient planner observes the network state and discloses information to the users with the goal of minimizing the expected travel time at the user equilibrium. Public signal policies, including full-information disclosure, are known to be inefficient in achieving opt

Lessons from Iago : Narrating the event of Entrepreneurship

To be able to demonstrate as well as argue for the possibilities of a narrative approach in entrepreneurship studies, this article focuses on some resonance between a story - the 'Toy Story' of Terry Allen's, the Marvel Mustang story - and a passage from Shakespeare's Othello, with particular focus on the character of Iago. I argue that a narrative approach enables us to learn from the ways of Iag

The fate of Phaeton : Baroque art for management's sake?

In this paper we inquire into the relationships between the Greek myth of Phaeton and Volkswagen's project to produce a luxury car (named Phaeton). Volkswagen apparently felt that the lack of a luxury car opened the possibility to question their 'son-of-God status', just like Phaeton in the Greek story. This inquiry is contextualized in the emergence of a more and more direct art-management relati

Entrepreneurship and the Creation of Organization

When re-imagining, re-thinking, and re-writing entrepreneurship in this book, the authors have come to the conclusion that the concept that describes it most precisely is one that signifies a process that includes imagining, seductively describing, playfully organizing, political agility in navigating common sense, and business sensibility before possible commerce. This book develops a process theo

Automated tight Lyapunov analysis for first-order methods

We present a methodology for establishing the existence of quadratic Lyapunov inequalities for a wide range of first-order methods used to solve convex optimization problems. In particular, we consider (i) classes of optimization problems of finite-sum form with (possibly strongly) convex and possibly smooth functional components, (ii) first-order methods that can be written as a linear system on

Highly Accurate Blood Test for Alzheimer's Disease Comparable or Superior to Clinical CSF Tests

With the emergence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) disease-modifying therapies, identifying patients who could benefit from these treatments becomes critical. We evaluated whether a precise blood test could perform as well as established cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) tests in detecting amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and tau tangles. Plasma %p-tau217 (ratio of phosporylated-tau217 to non-phosphorylated tau) was an

Dietary intake of dicarbonyl compounds and changes in body weight over time in a large cohort of European adults

Dicarbonyl compounds are highly reactive precursors of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs), produced endogenously, present in certain foods, and formed during food processing. AGEs contribute to development of adverse metabolic outcomes but health effects of dietary dicarbonyls are largely unexplored. We investigated associations between three dietary dicarbonyl compounds, methylglyoxal (MGO),
