Minimal system inverses for linear multivariable systems
The problem of minimal inverses for linear time invariant multivariable systems is formulated and constructively solved in a state space setting. Unknown initial states as well as zero initial states are considered. The spectrum of the minimal inverse is shown to be unique and constructable from the original system without first calculating the whole inverse. This leads to a simple way of introduc

Robe de Cour at the Swedish Court
The French court dress Le grand habit, worn at many European courts during the 18th century, was introduced in Sweden in the 1740’s by the crown princess Lovisa Ulrika, sister to Fredric II of Prussia. The robe de cour remained the official ceremonial dress for women at the Swedish court until Gustavus III launched the Swedish National Costume in 1778. The four robes de cour preserved in the Royal

Successful thrombolysis of an occluded modified Blalock shunt three days after operation
A 10-day-old boy with pulmonary atresia received a right-sided aortopulmonary polytetrafluoroethylene shunt. Three days after the operation he became cyanotic and was reintubated. Shunt occlusion was confirmed with angiography. Recombinant tissue plasminogen activator was given locally into the proximal end of the shunt. The thrombus was completely resolved after 2 days. When administration of rec
First-hand experiences of body and movements in autism
Aims:To explore young adults´ own experiences about body and movements.Method: Eleven young adults (15-22 years) with autism were interviewed face-to-face, with picture support available. Results:The results are preliminary, pointing towards the importance of assessing movement quality in persons with autism.
Effect of preoperative smoking cessation interventions on postoperative complications and smoking cessation
Background: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of preoperative smoking cessation interventions on postoperative complications and smoking cessation itself. Methods: Relevant databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of preoperative smoking cessation interventions. Trial inclusion, risk of bias assessment and data extraction were performed by two authors. Risk rat
Convergence of identification methods based on the instrumental variable approach
A class of identification methods, proposed in [3], are based on the instrumental variable principle. This correspondence contains a continued analysis of convergence of the parameter estimates of these methods. Alternative, sufficient conditions for convergence to correct values are given. It is also shown by construction of counter-examples that the methods do not converge under general conditio

Planning and Design of Equitable Free-Floating Bike-Sharing Systems Implementing a Road Pricing Strategy
Promoting a more sustainable development of urban realities is one of the most important goals of the recent decades. One possible strategy to undertake in order to achieve this objective is the implementation of a road pricing: tolling private cars when passing by certain roads of the network could be a way to tone down the traffic congestion and, at the same time, encourage the shifting towards
A road network design model considering horizontal and vertical equity : Evidences from an empirical study
Most of the models for solving the transportation Network Design Problem (NDP) often neglect equity goals that, assuming the societal function of transportation systems, should play an important role. The NDP should be addressed to solutions in which the outcomes of the design (costs and/or benefits) are distributed as fairly as possible among the potential users or class of users. In this paper,
Measurement of the Higgs boson mass in the H → ZZ⁎ → 4ℓ and H → γγ channels with s=13 TeV pp collisions using the ATLAS detector
The mass of the Higgs boson is measured in the H→ZZ⁎→4ℓ and in the H→γγ decay channels with 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data from the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016. The measured value in the H→ZZ⁎→4ℓ channel is mH ZZ⁎=124.79±0.37GeV, while the measured value in the H→γγ channel is mH γγ=124.93±0.40GeV. Combining
Reduced wound healing capacity in alcohol abusers - reversibility after withdrawal
BackgroundAlcohol abusers have increased risk of wound complications following surgical procedures, however the development of complications is reduced after preoperative withdrawal from alcohol. Therefore the aim of the study was to evaluate wound healing at alcohol abuse and after withdrawal. MethodsIn total 16 alcohol abusers were included and tested. Nine abusers were able to abstain from alco

ESI and MALDI LC/MS-MS approaches for large scale protein, identification and quantification : Are they equivalent?
An approach for large scale protein identification and quantification was described. The peptide mixtures from the strong cation exchange (SCX) fractionated protein digests were separated and analyzed by HPLC MS/MS. The human fibrobalst nuclei were purified from stimulated and non-stimulated cells. The quantification results with MALDI and ESI LC/MS were shown to be identical within experimental e
Risk reduction before surgery. The role of the primary care provider in preoperative smoking and alcohol cessation
Daily smokers and hazardous drinkers are high-risk patients, developing 2-4 times more complications after surgery. Preoperative smoking and alcohol cessation for four to eight weeks prior to surgery halves this complication rate. The patients' preoperative contact with the surgical departments might be too brief for the hospital to initiate these programmes. Therefore, it was relevant to evaluate
