The Sticky Fringe: Governmentality and Hedonistic Trails in the Öresund Region
Metalinguistic views of quantum mechanics and its formalizability
Much like the way we distinguish between formalism and experimentalism, we distinguish between ascertainment by proof and ascertainment by measurement. We argue that quantum mechanics, which characteristically encompasses both kinds of ascertainment, is too complex to be fully captured by formalism alone, and needs relativization to language in its complementaristic conception. In particular, we a

25 GHz and 28 GHz wide tuning range130 nm CMOS VCOs with ferroelectric varactors
Two 130nm CMOS VCOs with ferroelectric varactors are presented. The cross-coupled VCO-cores are flip-chip mounted on silicon carriers with integrated inductors and tunable ferroelectric varactors. The output frequency of the first VCO is tunable from 23.4 GHz to 26.1 GHz, corresponding to a tuning range of 11 %. The phase noise of this VCO, tuned to its center frequency, measures -117 dBC/Hz at 1

Through-Drying of Tissue Paper - Experiments and Modelling
In through-drying of paper, the energy required for drying is supplied by hot air, which is forced through the paper structure. The area for heat and mass transfer is the internal surface area of the paper, which is often many times larger than the external web surface area (xy-plane). Therefore, the drying rates achieved in through-drying are often several times higher than in contact drying proc

Competitive Protein Adsorption during Spray-drying
The aim of this thesis was to study competitive adsorption of milk proteins during spray-drying. For this purpose, a new surface sensitive method was developed which measures the quantitative amount of specific proteins at the powder surface. The new method is based on steady-state fluorescence measurement of pyrene labelled proteins with oxygen gas phase quenching at the powder surface. The milk

Conference • NNHSH 2015 Theme: Encounters between Nordic health, welfare and the global: Challenges and possibilities
In a so-called globalized world characterized by the continuous movement of people and pathogens crossing national borders, the Nordic welfare states can, arguably, no longer be studied as isolated entities removed from their broader international and geopolitical context. For example, as was aptly illustrated by the 2009 swine flu outbreak, infectious diseases spread at a pace unmatched by previo
Detection and haemodilutive treatment of cerebral arterial vasospasm and delayed ischaemia after Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
This thesis deals with cerebral arterial vasospasm and ischaemia, a serious complication after aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage. Firstly is the noninvasive transcranial Doppler ultrasound and transcranial cerebral oximetry techniques evaluated in detecting cerebral arterial vasospasm in clinical practice. Patients were examined during first 14 days after the bleed. Flow velocities in normo- ver
