Enabling design service facilitating interand intra-organizational sensemaking
The contribution of design is often regarded as providing a relieving service that delivers aesthetic competence at the end of a product development process. Previous studies have shown that industrial design consultancies aspire to be a strategic resource in their client firms, and that the focus of design is becoming increasingly intangible. The claim is that the competencies of the designer can
Vertical wrap-gated nanowire FETs
The 'Führerschule' in Alt Rehse: A character school for the physicians of National Socialist Germany.
This contribution traces the international contacts and impact of the leader school for German doctors ('Führerschule der deutschen Arzteschaft') in Alt Rehse 1935-1943 through studies of a visitors' book and of biographies. We suggest that the 'Föhrerschule', an institution providing political and ideological education for health professionals, interested non-German physicians to a larger extent t
Multifunctional bioenergy production systems – an introduction with presentation of specific applications in India and Sweden.
From Periphery to Center: Synchrotron Radiation at DESY, Part II: 1977—1993
In its fifty-year history, the German national research laboratory DESY (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, German Electron Synchrotron) has undergone a gradual transformation from a single-mission particle physics laboratory to a multi-mission research center for accelerator physics, particle physics, and photon science. The last is an umbrella term for research using synchrotron radiation and, in

Surgery for patients with primary hyperparathyroidism and negative sestamibi scintigraphy--a feasibility study
BACKGROUND: We report the surgical treatment of a consecutive series of scan negative patients with the intention of unilateral parathyroid exploration with the aid of intraoperative quick PTH (qPTH).MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 35 consecutive sestamibi scan negative patients (27 women, eight men) with sporadic pHPT subjected to first time surgery. Median age was 70 years and median p
Vibrationally resolved C Is photoemission from CO absorbed on Rh(1 1 1) : The investigation of a new chemically shifted C Is component
High-resolution core-level photoemission at an energy resolution better than the intrinsic width of the C 1s level has been used to study the CO/Rh(1 1 1) overlayer system. C Is spectra have been measured in a large CO coverage range; from low coverages, where the CO molecules only adsorb in on-top positions, to saturation coverage, where CO molecules occupy both on-top and threefold hollow sites.
Correlations in species richness between taxa depend on habitat, scale and landscape context
Biodiversity indicators are assumed to reflect changes in e.g. species richness of multiple taxa, but correlations in species richness between taxa have often been shown to be weak. However, only few studies are based on data allowing for rigorous tests whether strengths of correlations differ between habitat and landscape factors. We compared strengths of correlations between species richness of
Current controversies in determining the main mechanisms of atrial fibrillation
Despite considerable basic research into the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation (AF), not much progress has been made in the prognosis of patients with AF. With the exception of anticoagulant therapy, current treatments for AF still do not improve major cardiovascular outcomes. This may be due partly to the diverse aetiology of AF with increasingly more factors found to contribute to the arrhythmia
Migration and Transnational Informality in Post-Soviet Societies : Ethnographic Study of Po rukam (‘handshake’) Experiences of Uzbek Migrant Workers in Moscow
The concept of ‘informality’ has become a trendy topic of research in the scholarly literature about post-Soviet societies. The amount of literature focusing on informal practices and networks in post-Soviet space has grown rapidly over last two decades, producing theoretically and empirically grounded accounts of different forms and manifestations of informality, such as clans and regional patron

Supply and Demand. Evaluation training for Social Work and Social Care in a Swedish Context
Only during the last two decades has the discourse on evaluation been on the Swedish agenda of social work and social care. One assumption is that a conscious need for evaluation knowledge and evaluation capacity has finally surfaced. This based on the view that work efforts of social service organizations are regarded as chiefly authority-based and to a lesser degree based upon scientific knowled
Word Learning in the Developing Brain : ERP Dynamics of Learning Word-Object Associations
This dissertation investigated electrophysiological measures of individual differences in toddlers’ ability to learn novel object labels and process familiar object words and their referents. The studies measured both visual and auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) in response to pictures of objects and words in a longitudinal sample of 20- to 24-month-olds, an age of dynamic vocabulary develo
An improved bound on the list error probability and list distance properties
A new upper bound on the list error probability is presented. This bound is derived by combining the techniques for obtaining the tangential union bound with an improved bound on the error probability with respect to a given list. Connections between the list distance and the eigenvalues of the covariance matrix of the code are studied
