Missnöjda medborgares säkerhetsventil - en studie av överklagade detaljplaner
The primary aim of this study is to view the meaning, the function and the consequences of appealed community plans. A overview of the Swedish regulations has been made in addition to an empirical study of 63 appealed community plans in two municipalities in the south of Sweden, during the years 1996-2000. The study shows that approximately 25% of all the plans made have been the object for appeal

A Critical Evaluation of Inflammatory Markers in Huntington’s Disease Plasma
BACKGROUND: Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a hereditary, progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterised by both neurological and systemic symptoms. In HD, immune changes can be observed before the onset of overt clinical features raising the possibility that immune markers in plasma could be used to track disease progression. It has previously been demonstrated that a widespread, progressive i
Family Life in Power Couples. Continued Childbearing and Union Stability among the Educational Elite in Sweden, 1991–2005
This article studies continued childbearing and union stability among "power couples," or dual-career couples. The determinants of these events are analysed multivariately using longitudinal data on couples from population registers in Sweden, 1991–2005. Power couples are identified using their levels and fields of education, and their sectors of employment. Income and other variables are controll
Wellbeing among people with dementia and their next of kin over a period of 3 years.
Scand J Caring Sci; 2011 Wellbeing among people with dementia and their next of kin over a period of 3 years Little is known about the dyadic experience over time of people with dementia and their next of kin. The aim of this study was to investigate the state of mind of people with dementia, their next of kin's experience of burden and satisfaction, and factors associated with these experiences o

Turbocharged HCCI Engine, Improving Efficiency and Operating Range
Increasing fuel prices and environmental concern drives the research and development for the internal combustion engine. Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) is a promising combustion concept with high fuel efficiency and low emissions. The auto-ignition in HCCI combustion has no flame propagation and therefore the combustible mixture is consumed rapidly, even at low temperature. This re
Understanding Admissibility
Lewis' concept of admissibility was introduced as an integral part of his famous Principal Principle; the principle that initial rational/reasonable belief should conform to objective chance unless there is evidence to the contrary. At that time Lewis offered only the rough and ready characterisation that evidence not to the contrary of such dependence is admissible. This, together with some suffi

Periodic Motions of the Pendubot via Virtual Holonomic Constraints: Theory and Experiments
This paper presents a new control strategy for an underactuated two-link robot, called the Pendubot. The goal is to create stable oscillations of the outer link of the Pendubot, which is not directly actuated. We exploit a recently proposed feedback control design strategy, based on motion planning via virtual holonomic constraints. This strategy is shown to be useful for design of regulators for
The asparaginyl endopeptidase legumain after experimental stroke.
Various proteases in the brain contribute to ischemic brain injury. We investigated the involvement of the asparaginyl endopeptidase legumain after experimental stroke. On the basis of gene array studies and in situ hybridizations, we observed an increase of legumain expression in the peri-infarct area of rats after transient occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCAO) for 120 mins with a maxim

Antidepressant use during pregnancy: comparison of data obtained from a prescription register and from antenatal care records.
PURPOSE: To compare interview data on drug use during pregnancy with data identified from a register of prescriptions. MATERIALS: We compared information from the Swedish Prescribed Drug Register with the Swedish Medical Birth Register on antidepressant use. In order to evaluate the clinical significance of the difference in ascertainment with the two methods, the rate of preterm births among sing
