Combined Proteomic-Molecular Epidemiology Approach to Identify Precision Targets in Brain Cancer
Primary brain tumors are predominantly malignant gliomas. Grade IV astrocytomas (glioblastomas, GBM) are among the most deadly of all tumors; most patients will succumb to their disease within 2 years of diagnosis despite standard of care. The grim outlook for brain tumor patients indicates that novel precision therapeutic targets must be identified. Our hypothesis is that the cancer proteomes of
Open Notes in Swedish Psychiatric Care (Part 1): Survey Among Psychiatric Care Professionals
Background: When the Swedish version of Open Notes, an electronic health record (EHR) service that allows patients online access, was introduced in hospitals, primary care, and specialized care in 2012, psychiatric care was exempt. This was because psychiatric notes were considered too sensitive for patient access. However, as the first region in Sweden, Region Skåne added adult psychiatry to its

Technological Advancements in Affinity Proteomics : From planar antibody microarrays towards a solution-based platform
Abstract: Proteomics has the potential to deliver disease-associated biomarkers that could provide diagnostic, prognostic and predictive information to enable precision medicine. Affinity proteomics, most commonly based on antibodies and their ability to specifically capture target proteins, has emerged has a valuable tool in biomarker discovery. Our group has developed a recombinant antibody micr
Association of walking pace and handgrip strength with all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality : A UK Biobank observational study
Aims: To quantify the association of self-reported walking pace and handgrip strength with all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality. Methods and results: A total of 230 670 women and 190 057 men free from prevalent cancer and cardiovascular disease were included from UK Biobank. Usual walking pace was self-defined as slow, steady/average or brisk. Handgrip strength was assessed by dynamomet

and international research projects have attempted to measure andquantify the importance of ecosystem goods and services for people.Nowadays, it is safe to claim that ecosystems, through their naturalprocesses and functions, provide services that are essential for humanwell-being. However, in industrialized societies people often forgethow intricately our daily lives depend on natural ecosystems a
How predictions of economic behavior are affected by the socio-economic status of the target person
We investigate how the stereotype of the poor (vs. middle class) influences behavioral predictions. In Study 1 participants made predictions regarding another person’s economic behavior in scenarios pertaining to rate of time preferences (loss, gain of smaller and larger amount). We find that participants, across scenarios, expect individuals with low SES to show more short-sightedness, i.e., steeWe investigate how the stereotype of the poor (vs. middle class) influences behavioral predictions. Attenuation of reactive gliosis in stroke-injured mouse brain does not affect neurogenesis from grafted human iPSC-derived neural progenitors
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) or their progeny, derived from human somatic cells, can give rise to functional improvements after intracerebral transplantation in animal models of stroke. Previous studies have indicated that reactive gliosis, which is associated with stroke, inhibits neurogenesis from both endogenous and grafted neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) of rodent origin. Here w

Strong spin-orbit interaction and magnetotransport in semiconductor Bi2O2Se nanoplates
Semiconductor Bi2O2Se nanolayers of high crystal quality have been realized via epitaxial growth. These two-dimensional (2D) materials possess excellent electron transport properties with potential application in nanoelectronics. It is also strongly expected that the 2D Bi2O2Se nanolayers can be an excellent material platform for developing spintronic and topological quantum devices if the presenc

Medieval medical cultures in Sweden - practices and ideas mirrored in materiality : Practices and ideas mirrored in materiality
The poster briefly presents some main traits on how medical practice and understanding changed during the middle ages and renaissance, and how it is mirrored in material culture. A development well on its way during the first half of the middle ages seems to have been interrupted by the Great Death and after that new ideas from abroad were allowed to have a greater influence. A major explanation t
