Lifetime measurements in LaII and LaIII using time-resolved laser spectroscopy
Lifetime determinations for eleven levels in La II and two levels in La III have been performed using time-resolved laser spectroscopy. Free La+ and La++ ions were produced in a laser-induced plasma and selective excitation was obtained with narrow-bandwidth, 1 ns duration tunable laser pulses. Lifetime values were evaluated from the time-resolved fluorescence signals recorded by a fast detection
Lifetimes and oscillator strengths for ultraviolet transitions in neutral sulfur
A consistent set of f-values for vacuum ultraviolet lines of S I is deduced from a combination of laser lifetime measurements and theoretical branching ratios. The new results are compared with results deduced from absorption by interstellar gas toward zeta Ophiuchi, and good agreement is observed for most transitions.
Predictive role of high sensitivity troponin T within four hours from presentation of acute coronary syndrome in elderly patients.
Previous studies indicate that the introduction of high-sensitivity troponin T (HsTnT) as a diagnostic tool for chest pain patients in the emergency department (ED) creates a high rate of false-positive tests. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate if the diagnostic performance of HsTnT for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) up to 3-4 h after presentation in elderly patients can be improved.
Determination of hyperfine structure of highly excited S states in alkali atoms using a CW dye laser
The hyperfine structure of the 7 2S1/2 state of 39K and the 10 2S1/2 and 11 2S1/2 states of 133Cs has been measured by rf spectroscopy experiments using a CW dye laser.

Interarrival Distribution of a Long-Range Dependent Workload Process
We derive the interarrival distribution of a workload input process which is a variation of the infinite source Poisson process for packet traffic. It accounts for long-range dependence and self-similarity exhibited by real traces in the Internet. The packet generation process is compound Poisson over each session which has a heavy tailed distribution. Considering the dependence induced by the wor

Aviatik och journalistik: Flygbaronen och medierna kring 1910
In the first years of the twentieth century, numerous attempts were made at powered flight. What is commonly labelled 'the pioneer era' (1900-1914) covers the unsteady beginnings of the motorized airplane as well as its large-scale introduction in warfare and for the transportation of goods and passengers. Initially regarded as a foolish toy for hazardous adventure, the airplane rapidly became a f
How do nurses and ward managers perceive that evidence-based sources are obtained to inform relevant nursing interventions? - an exploratory study.
Aims and objectivesTo explore how nurses and managers perceive that evidence‐based sources are obtained to inform relevant nursing interventions.BackgroundImplementation of evidence‐based practice requires a systematic search and evaluation of research, clinical expertise and consideration of the patients’ preferences and values. Much has been written over the past decade about how this should be
