Kraftverkstunnlar

Medical Patent Protection Impacts on Access to Medicine in China

Along with the interrelation between medical patent right, the generics impacts and the right to access to medicines, which as one of intersection issues between Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and Human Rights (HR), has drawn more and more attention under the international society, the Doha Declaration on TRIPS and Public Health has reaffirmed the flexibilities of the Agreement on the Trade R

Production and Perception of Swedish Word Accents by Somali L1 Speakers

In this thesis, the production and perception of Swedish word accents by Somali L1 speakers is investigated. The Feature hypothesis, stating that it is easier to acquire a phonological feature in an L2 if the same phonological feature is used in the L1 will be the framework used. Somali is a language that also makes us of word accents. Therefore, the two languages are placed in the same level of t

Malmö Centralstation - ett gränstillstånd

This essay investigates how Malmö Central Station can be understood in relation to the con-cept of liminality, how it is part of a social and architectural transition between everyday life, in a city, and a travelling state. The concept of liminality is based on Victor W. Turner’s an-thropological theory of transition rites. The essay also investigates how modernity in general and the railway in p

Urbanization and Density in Zanzibar - Recommendations for Sustainable Urban Development from Swahili Houses to Apartment Houses

Urbanization and Density in Zanzibar - Recommendations for Sustainable Urban Development from Swahili houses to low-rise multi-storey houses. The rapid urbanization process in Africa is a major challenge for politicians, urban planners and society in general. The archipelago of Zanzibar in Tanzania is in the middle of this process. Traditionally, low and middle income families live in Swahili hous

Resemblance Between Universals

In this paper I evaluate a problem with the partial identity theory and solutions as suggested by Eddon and Morganti. Resemblances exist not only between objects, but between universals. Hence, the mass universal of a 1kg object resembles the mass universal of a 3 kg object and the mass universal of a 100kg object. Resemblances between such universals, referred to as quantitative universals, are p

Priming time: The relationship between subjective time and retrospective time perception

This study considered the question whether retrospective time perception was affected by priming the experimental condition to be more aware of subjective time during the experience of the target duration. Awareness of subjective time was operationalized by the direction of attention toward a running stop-watch, while participants were shown images for various durations on which they were later te

Nonexistence Theorems for Perfect Codes over Finite Fields

In this survey, we consider the trivial perfect codes which are the binary repetition codes of odd length and all codes that only contain one code word. We also take into acount, the Hamming codes as well as the two perfect Golay codes. We then prove that there do not exist any perfect codes over finite fields others than the ones above, using Lloyd's theorem.

Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis of Iron Aluminides

Materials and component production steadily needs to become more effective since newer projects might have a finite amount of resources. The reasoning why powder metallurgy and particulate materials processing is chosen as a topic for this thesis is because of the potential to minimize the manufacturing waste. Instead of utilizing wasteful cutting and grinding processing steps to gain the final sh

Thermal properties of concrete with different Swedish aggregate materials

Earlier studies show that different concrete aggregates have different thermal properties, and from this an idea to optimize thermal properties of concrete was developed. The purpose of this master thesis is to investigate thermal properties of concrete so additional costs and negative environmental impacts can be minimized. Measurements of thermal properties of different Swedish aggregates from e

The Great Irish Welcome? - Uneasy multicultural relations on Dublin's Moore Street market.

Moore Street is a market street in central Dublin which in recent years has transformed into one of the most multicultural streets in the city. The street traders that have been a presence on the street for generations are now working next to shop-keepers from a diverse range of countries. As such it is often held up as a positive example of multiculturalism. The purpose of this thesis is to exami

Numerous researches on the acquisition of a second language show that the learner acquire the syntactic structures of a language in a certain order, independent of the order they have been introduced to learner. Bartning and Schlyter (2004) have designed an itinerary with six stages of development that show the expected development of the acquisition of French L2 by Swedish adults in oral producti

Swedish relative clause extractions: The Small Clause Hypothesis

On the basis of data from Swedish, this thesis investigates the Small Clause Hypothesis put forth by Kush et al. (2013). The hypothesis is suggested to account for the rare possibility of relative clause extraction, a phenomenon that poses a challenge for syntactic theories of locality. In brief, the hypothesis states that the possibility to extract from relative clauses is restricted to cases whe
