Exercise-induced myocardial edema in master triathletes : Insights from cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging

Background: Strenuous exercise has been associated with functional and structural cardiac changes due to local and systemic inflammatory responses, reflecting oxidative, metabolic, hormonal, and thermal stress, even in healthy individuals. We aimed to assess changes in myocardial structure and function using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging in master triathletes early after a full-d

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Climate Finance Strategy in Southeast Asia: Enabling Conditions for Regional Climate Finance Readiness

Southeast Asia is the hardest-hit region worldwide regarding the frequency and severity of natural hazards, which are deemed to increase significantly in the incoming years. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (RCRC) in Southeast Asia, through its International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Asia Pacific Regional Office (RO), IFRC Country Cluster Suppor

Brand orientation in action : Towards a relational approach

Along with the ever-expanding interest in brands, the brand orientation concept has since its inception in the early 1990s steadily received more and more attention from scholars and practitioners alike. Brand orientation ultimately captures how organisations can develop sustainable competitive advantages in the form of brands. However, the conditions for brand management have dramatically changedAlong with the ever-expanding interest in brands, the brand orientation concept has since its inception in the early 1990s steadily received more and more attention from scholars and practitioners alike. Patents or Patients? The COVD-19 Pandemic and Intellectual Property Rights

Worldwide inequality in the circulation of vaccines during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic re-ignited the ever-existing turmoil between rich, developed nations and poor, developing nations on the role of intellectual property (IP) against the fundamental right to health. The World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) contribute to making medicinal products and dia

Measuring Up to the Humanities : Navigating the Epistemological Advantage of Classical Humanism in Nineteenth-Century Scholarly Periodicals

This chapter analyzes the epistemological hierarchy around the middleof the nineteenth century in Sweden through efforts to mobilize supportfor natural science in scholarly periodicals. It is argued that scholarlycommunication was key to achieving legitimacy for natural science, butthat such efforts were mitigated by a dominant view of the humanitiesin general and classical humanism in particular

Enhanced Effective Aperture Distribution Function for Characterizing Large-Scale Antenna Arrays

Accurate characterization of large-scale antenna arrays is growing in importance and complexity for the fifth-generation (5G) and beyond systems, as they feature more antenna elements and require increased overall performance. The full 3D patterns of all antenna elements in the array need to be characterized because they are in general different due to construction inaccuracy, coupling, antenna ar

A multilingual parallel corpus approach to time sufficiency expressions in Scandinavian and English

Both the Swedish verb hinna and the Norwegian verb rekke have been shown to encode complex sufficiency meanings involving temporal sufficiency and ability (‘have enough time to be able to do sth’) (Johansson & Nordrum, 2016, 2021), but differ in that hinna always encodes temporal meaning while rekke also has spatial meaning. Interestingly, a third Mainland Scandinavian language, Danish, can al

Cell-Free Hemoglobin Concentration in Blood Prime Solution Is a Major Determinant of Cell-Free Hemoglobin Exposure during Cardiopulmonary Bypass Circulation in the Newborn

Exposure to circulating cell-free hemoglobin is a ubiquitous feature of open-heart surgery on cardiopulmonary bypass circulation. This study aims to determine the origins and dynamics of circulating cell-free hemoglobin and its major scavenger proteins haptoglobin and hemopexin during neonatal cardiopulmonary bypass. Forty neonates with an isolated critical congenital heart defect were included in

Wavelet decomposition for detection of chaotic characteristics of monthly precipitation at Mokpo, Korea

In the present study, we apply deterministic chaos theory to investigate nonlinear dynamics in monthly precipitation at Mokpo, Korea, after wavelet decomposition. The wavelet transform is used not only for removal of noise but also for extraction of low and high frequency components in the data, representing low-dimensional dynamics. In order to determine an appropriate decomposition level for the
