Pilot Plan Design
This document describes the methodology for the evaluation and the assessment of the Safe Speed – Safe Distance (SSSD) concept of the SASPENCE system. It describes the evaluation using the prototype vehicles from a technical and functional point of view, as well as to assess such a system by a subjective rating by the driver. In particular, the first part is the report on the pilot plan design, th

A 1.8-GHz CMOS VCO tuned by an accumulation-mode MOS varactor
This work presents a 1.8-GHz VCO tuned by a pMOS capacitor working exclusively in the accumulation and depletion regions. The VCO has been fabricated in a standard 0.6 μm CMOS process. It shows a tuning range of about 11% and a phase noise of -137 dBc/Hz at 3 MHz offset from the carrier, for a current consumption of 2.7 mA. The VCO compares favorably with a CMOS VCO tuned by a reverse biased diode

Kartvelian substrate toponyms in Abkhazia
In this paper we discuss a specific Kartvelian model of toponyms, using names of plants without any affixes as toponyms. This model is observed almost all over the Georgian territory. It has been noted on the Abkhazian territory as well, but is not found in the Abkhaz language. We suggest that Sukhumi, Gagra and Tkvarcheli follow this model.
Humanism and Normativism: Two fundamental aspects of the personal worldview
Broad systems of meaning permeating a person’s worldview are crucial to personality, because they organize beliefs, values, and attitudes and imbue lives with meaning and direction. Yet they have attracted little research. Humanism and Normativism are arguably the broadest worldview constructs to date, encompassing attitudes about human nature, society, morality, affect, and epistemology. Accor

Homogenization of spherical inclusions
The homogenization of cubically arranged, homogeneous spherical inclusions in a background material is addressed. This is accomplished by the solution of a local problem in the unit cell. An exact series representation of the effective relative permittivity of the heterogeneous material is derived, and the functional behavior for small radii of the spheres is given. The solution is utilizing the tr
Physical Bounds and Optimal Currents on Antennas
Physical bounds on the directivity Q-factor quotient and optimal current distributions are determined for antennas of arbitrary shape and size using an optimization formulation. A variational approach offers closed form solutions for small antennas expressed in the polarizability of the antenna structure. Finite sized antennas are solved using Lagrangian parameters in a method of moments formulati
Redistribution of blood flow in the cerebral cortex of normal subjects during head-up postural change
Regional cerebral blood flow was measured in 21 normotensive subjects during supine rest and during head-up tilt to 70 degrees. The results showed significant and consistent regional cerebral blood flow changes in the frontal areas with lower relative flow distribution values (percentage of mean flow) during head-up tilt than during supine rest. The lower frontal flow distribution values during ti
