Macrocyclic Carbohydrate/Amino Acid Hybrid Molecules - Synthesis and Evaluation as Artificial Receptors
Methods were developed for the synthesis of three different types of macrocyclic carbohydrate/amino acid hybrid molecules. In the synthesis of the first type of macrocycles, a glucosamine derivative was oxidized at C6 and the obtained sugar amino acid was coupled to tripeptides. The resulting hybrids were transformed into dimers and cyclized in a macrolactamization step to obtain C2-symmetric macr

INOSITOL PHOSPHOLIPID-BASED SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION IN PLANTS Phosphoinositide-Specific Phospholipase C and 3-Phosphoinositide Dependent Protein Kinase-1 in Arabidopsis thaliana
Although it is clear that PIs are important components also in plant signalling, little is known about their roles in plant cells, compared to animal cells. This thesis describes work on two PI-dependent enzymes involved in plant intracellular signalling, phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PI-PLC) and 3-phosphoinositide

Limit properties of the monotone rearrangement for density and regression function estimation
The monotone rearrrangement algorithm was introduced by Hardy, Littlewood and Po ́lya as a sorting device for functions. As- suming that x is a monotone function and that an estimate xn of x is given, consider the monotone rearrangement xˆn of xn. This new estimator is shown to be uniformly consistent. Under suitable as- sumptions, pointwise limit distribution results for xˆn are obtained. The fra

The linguistic encoding of placement and removal events in Jahai
This paper explores the linguistic encoding of placement and removal events in Jahai (Austroasiatic, Malay Peninsula) on the basis of descriptions from a video elicitation task. It outlines the structural characteristics of the descriptions and isolates semantically a set of situation types that find expression in lexical opposites: (1) putting/taking, (2) inserting/extracting, (3) dressing/undres

Balancing - Cancer from a primary care perspective. Diagnosis, posttraumatic stress, and end-of-life care.
Popular Abstract in Swedish Att balansera. UtgångThis thesis explores cancer from a primary care perspective covering three areas: diagnosis, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and end-of-life care. We analyzed patient records of every child diagnosed with a malignancy in a defined area. During 12 years 68 children were diagnosed (incidence 14/100,000). For 68% the diagnosis was initiated in primary care. There were 25 children with leukemia
