Japanese (Modern Languages)

The specialisation in Japanese is aimed at those with a desire to pursue deeper studies in Japanese linguistics. Students will follow two courses that focus on reading and discussing texts on Japanese theoretical linguistics (in English as well as in Japanese). This module, together with the courses in general linguistics offered within the Master’s Programme, provides the student with a solid theoretical foundation. Students may also write their master’s thesis on a topic related to Japanese linguistics. The Japanese linguistics option will appeal to those who need a practical as well as a theoretical knowledge of the Japanese language for their current or future career.
