Performance Analysis of a Countercurrent Flow Heat Exchanger Placed on the Truck Compartment Roof
Due to the increasing power requirement and the limited available space in vehicles, placing the heat exchanger at the roof or the underbody of vehicles might increase the possibility to handle the cooling requirement. A new configuration of the heat exchanger has to be developed to accommodate with the position change. In this paper, a countercurrent heat exchanger is developed for position on th

Impact of photo-chemical processing of DOC on the bacterioplankton respiratory quotient in aquatic ecosystems
Many studies assume a respiratory quotient (RQ = molar ratio of CO2 produced to O2 consumed) close to 1 when calculating bacterioplankton respiration. However, evidence suggests that RQ depends on the chemical composition of the respired substrate pool that may be altered by photo-chemical production of oxygen-rich substrates, resulting in elevated RQs. Here we conducted a novel study of the impac
Ischemic Stroke and Six Genetic Variants in CRP, EPHX2, FGA, and NOTCH3 Genes : A Meta-Analysis
Background: Ischemic stroke (IS) is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. As genetic heritability for IS is estimated at about 35%-40%, the identification of genetic variants associated with IS risk is of great importance. The main objective of this study was to carry out a meta-analysis for polymorphisms in CRP, EPHX2, FGA, and NOTCH3 genes and the risk for IS. Methods: Literature se
CNTN6 mutations are risk factors for abnormal auditory sensory perception in autism spectrum disorders
Contactin genes CNTN5 and CNTN6 code for neuronal cell adhesion molecules that promote neurite outgrowth in sensory-motor neuronal pathways. Mutations of CNTN5 and CNTN6 have previously been reported in individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), but very little is known on their prevalence and clinical impact. In this study, we identified CNTN5 and CNTN6 deleteriousvariants in individuals
Childhood Anorexia Nervosa Compared with Low Weight Food Intake Disorder Without Weight and Shape-Related Psychopathology: A Retrospective Study of 102 Patients
OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical presentation of children with anorexia nervosa (AN group) with that of children with low-weight food intake disorder without weight and shape-related psychopathology (non-AN group). METHOD: Medical and psychiatric data were obtained from the case records of a consecutive series of 102 children with an eating disorder and a pronounced low weight who were below t
Productive efficiency in the iron and steel sector under state planning : The case of China and former Czechoslovakia in a comparative perspective
State-ownership has often been discussed as one of the major causes of poor industrial energy efficiency performance. This paper utilizes long-run historical data on the energy and material use in one specific industrial sector – the iron and steel production – in countries with both central-planning and market-based system, with a particular focus on former Czechoslovakia paralleled with the deve
Stem cells : How we could restore the brain function after ischemic damage
Ischemic stroke is caused by occlusion of a cerebral artery, which gives rise to focal ischemia with irreversible injury in a core region and partially reversible damage in the surrounding penumbra zone. Stroke leads to neural death and consequently neurological impairments. Therapeutic intervention of stroke comprises thrombolysis and thrombectomy by chemical or surgical means, respectively. If d
The Effect of Pattern Separation on Fear Conditioning

Molecular mechanisms of brain ischemia and its protection
Ischemia is defined as a reduction in blood flow to a level that is sufficient to alter normal cellular function. Brain tissue is highly sensitive to ischemia, such that even brief ischemic periods in neurons can initiate a complex sequence of events that may ultimately culminate in cell death. Stroke and cardiac arrest induce the cessation of cerebral blood flow, which can result in brain damage.

Extended Flipped Classroom - using peer dynamics for integrative learning
The Extended Flipped Classroom (EFC) concept was developed for and applied to a selected group of students studying at the Technology Management programme, a cross-disciplinary master programme at Lund University, Sweden, in 2014. The main driving force for its development was a strong believe that the university can provide the students with, not only knowledge in various subject fields, but also
A Student-Centered Approach and Mindset-Focused Pedagogical Approach for Entrepreneurship and Leadership
The ease and abundance of knowledge acquisition that is unparalleled in history, renders knowledge transition and practicing of skills in education insufficient. The importance of personal reflection and identity, i.e. the individual’s mindset, is increasingly important. Re-thinking educational approaches, to entrepreneurship and leadership in particular, is important since they are activities for
