Research

We are dedicated to help children with cancer and our work is focused on neuroblastoma, a cancer derived from the sympathetic nervous system. Our overall goals are to investigate mechanisms of metastasis and treatment resistance, and to identify and test novel therapies against high-risk neuroblastoma. We have three main aims: 1. DEVELOPMENT OF CLINICALLY RELEVANT CANCER MODELSClinically relevant

Kidney Cancer Research Group

PI Håkan Axelson Background Renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) are derived from the epithelial cells of the nephron. Although surgical resection of localized RCC is often curative, treatment of metastasized disease is very challenging as these tumors are virtually resistant to conventional radio- and chemotherapy.  During the last 20 years the genetic landscape of these tumors has been detailed. Preclinical Multispectral Optoacoustic Tomography Multispectral Optoacoustic Tomography is a powerful optoacoustic imaging system for small animal imaging. It acquires cross-sectional images from head to tail, with high resolution, in vivo and in real time. The machine is also equipped with ultrasound computed tomography for further insights.
