Does Public Diplomacy Need a Theory of Disruption? : The Role of Nonstate Actors in Counter-branding the Swedish COVID-19 Response
Public diplomacy (PD) scholars tend to consider two main principals: the country or agent that conducts PD (Actor A), and target groups in the host country in which PD is conducted (Actor B). The field currently lacks theories of how communications between Actors A and B can be disrupted by a third party, such as a group of motivated trolls, an organised advocacy group, or a hostile country and it

Population-scale analysis of common and rare genetic variation associated with hearing loss in adults
To better understand the genetics of hearing loss, we performed a genome-wide association meta-analysis with 125,749 cases and 469,497 controls across five cohorts. We identified 53/c loci affecting hearing loss risk, including common coding variants in COL9A3 and TMPRSS3. Through exome sequencing of 108,415 cases and 329,581 controls, we observed rare coding associations with 11 Mendelian hearing
The nuclear stellar disc of the Milky Way : A dynamically cool and metal-rich component possibly formed from the central molecular zone
Context. The nuclear stellar disc (NSD) is, together with the nuclear star cluster (NSC) and the central massive black hole, one of the main components in the central parts of our Milky Way. However, until recently, only a few studies of the stellar content of the NSD have been obtained owing to extreme extinction and stellar crowding. Aims. We study the kinematics and global metallicities of the
A study comparing outcomes between obese and nonobese patients with lumbar disc herniation undergoing surgery : a study of the Swedish National Quality Registry of 9979 patients
Background: This study aimed to evaluate whether an increasing grade of obesity is associated with inferior outcomes after lumbar disc herniation (LDH) surgery. Methods: We retrieved data from the Swedish register for spine surgery regarding patients aged 20–64 who underwent LDH surgery from 2006–2016 and had preoperative and one-year postoperative data. A total of 4156 patients were normal weight
Bedömningsverktyg - kemikalieexponering i barns inomhusmiljö

Perioperative morbidity and mortality in chronic alcoholic patients
This article represents the proceedings of a symposium at the 2000 ISBRA Meeting in Yokohama, Japan. The chairs were Claudia Spies and Hanne Tønnesen. The presentations were (1) Relevance of alcohol misuse in surgical patients, by Hanne Tønnesen; (2) Diagnosis of alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence, by Sven Andreasson; (3) Diagnosis of acute alcohol misuse, by Anders Helander; (4) Preoperative in
The alcohol patient and surgery
Alcohol abusers have a threefold increased risk of post-operative morbidity after surgery. The most frequent complications are infections, cardiopulmonary insufficiency, and bleeding episodes. Pathogenesis is suppressed immune capacity, subclinical cardiac dysfunction, and haemostatic imbalance. The economic implications of alcohol abuse in surgical patients are tremendous. Interventional studies
Writing-Weaving Sámi Feminisms : Stories and Conversations
This dissertation explores, illuminates, and analyses Sámi feminist knowledges, conceptualised as diverse and fluid feminist knowledges that both arise within and create Sámi realities. This study focuses on feminist articulations
Evaluation As A Mean To Communicate Society Of The Benefits Of Investing In Big Science In A Developing Country : The Brazilian Sirius Project
This study reports an impact evaluation carried out for a large-scale research infrastructure, the Brazilian Sirius Synchrotron Light Source, one of two fourth-generation synchrotron light sources in the world. We focus on the economic impacts and spillovers resulting from highly qualified procurements presented to different types of suppliers who participated in the design and construction proces
