The Centre for Languages and Literature is offering all international students the opportunity to learn some Swedish this coming semester. The course runs with halftime course load. The course is given with weekly daytime classes, and additional course work online.
Undervisning – vårterminen 2022
Från och med den 9 februari kommer mer undervisning att kunna genomföras på campus. Under en period kommer dock även digitala moment att förekomma. Det är därför viktigt att du är uppmärksam på den information som läraren ger dig och ändringarna i schemat i Canvas och/eller TimeEdit.
Learning Swedish
The course Swedish for Students with a Foreign Background: Level 1 (7.5 credits) is designed for those who are interested in acquiring and developing a Swedish language skill and are interested in taking a language course with a rapid progression. The course is held partly at the Centre of Languages and Literature with classes once a week and partly as a distance-learning course making use of online communication.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Ask and respond to simple, routine and predictable questions
- Write short sentences with simple phrases about topics that are familiar to you
- Understand when someone speaks slowly about familiar topics
- Read a simple text with high frequency words
- Show some control over basic grammatical structures
The workload will be as demanding as other regular courses.
Requirements
The course requires basic eligibility for university studies, with the exception of Swedish. To show that you fulfill the requirements, you need to send in your Higher secondary school diploma and transcript. You may also need send in proof of proficiency in English (corresponding to English course 6 in the Swedish upper secondary school) by means of an internationally recognised test, e.g. TOEFL, IELTS or the equivalent.
Tuition fee
Course tuition fee: SEK 13 750
There are no tuition fees for citizens of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. Citizens of a country outside of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are required to pay tuition fees. If you are required to pay tuition fees, you are generally also required to pay an application fee of SEK 900 (approximately EUR 100) when you apply. If you are registered for a course or programme in Sweden when you submit your application, you are not required to pay an application fee; however, registration status does not exempt students from paying tuition fees and, as such, you may still be required to pay them.
