β+ decay of 61Ga

The mirror β+ decay of 61Ga was investigated by means of β- and γ-ray spectrometry at the ISOLDE-PSB facility using laser ionization and mass separation. The results for the 61Ga half-life and the QFC value are 168(3) ms and 9255(50) keV, respectively. The β-decay strength to the ground and low-lying excited states of the daughter 61Zn was deduced. The experimental results are in a good agreement

Evidence for superdeformation in 149,150dy : Onset of the collapse of the z=66 deformed shell closure?

An experiment has been performed to search for superdeformed (SD) states in 149,150Dy. While no evidence for discrete superdeformed states has been observed, a superdeformed ridge with a separation of ΔΕγ=52 keV with a total intensity of 1.8±0.5% that of 150Dy has been observed. An upper limit of 0.8% (0.9%), of the intensity of 150Dy (149Dy), is placed for observation of the most intense discrete

Magnetic rotation in the 105Sn nucleus

The structure of 105Sn has been investigated through the 50Cr(58Ni,2pn) reaction at a beam energy of 210 MeV. In addition to an extension of the spherical level scheme a regular sequence of dipole transitions has been found. The states of the dipole band are suggested to be built on a neutron h2 11/2 excitation coupled to proton particle-hole states, which polarize the core to a slightly prolate s

Use of non-benzodiazepine hypnotics is associated with falls in nursing home residents : a longitudinal cohort study

BACKGROUND: Falls and related injuries are common among older people, and several drug classes are considered to increase fall risk.AIMS: This study aimed to investigate the association between the use of certain drug classes and falls in older nursing home residents in Sweden, and relate these to different age groups.METHODS: Information on falls that occurred in the previous year and regular use

That little football girl. Swedish club football and gender expectations

The title of this article comes from a comment made about me. It was uttered informally, but within a research community nevertheless. I was referred to as “thatlittle football girl”, and although the comment was swiftly trivialized, as in “I did not mean anything negative”, it left me pondering on how my gender reflected on the seriousness of my research. The aim of this article is to explore fro

Modeling, Optimization and Analysis of Electromobility Systems

Due to an increase in environmental awareness and an improved understanding on the impact of human activity on our planet’s climate, there is a strong desire both from governments and the general public to reduce harmful pollution and emissions. This requires action on different fronts, like decarbonizing electricity generation, industrial activity and not least the transport sector. This thesis a

Alcohol use disorder and divorce : evidence for a genetic correlation in a population-based Swedish sample

Aims: We tested the association between alcohol use disorder (AUD) and divorce; estimated the genetic and environmental influences on divorce; estimated how much genetic and environmental influences accounted for covariance between AUD and divorce; and estimated latent genetic and environmental correlations between AUD and divorce. We tested sex differences in these effects. Design: We identified

Associations between Divorce and Onset of Drug Abuse in a Swedish National Sample

Rates of drug abuse are higher among divorced individuals than among those who are married, but it is not clear whether divorce itself is a risk factor for drug abuse or whether the observed association is confounded by other factors. We examined the association between divorce and onset of drug abuse in a population-based Swedish cohort born during 1965-1975 (n = 651,092) using Cox proportional h

Tourism and Travel during the Cold War : Negotiating Tourist Experiences across the Iron Curtain

The Iron Curtain was not an impenetrable divide, and contacts between East and West took place regularly and on various levels throughout the Cold War. This book explores how the European tourist industry transcended the ideological fault lines and the communist states attracted an ever-increasing number of Western tourists. Based on extensive original research, it examines the ramifications of to

The History of the European Travel Commission 1948-2018

In 1945, when Europe emerged from the most devastating war the world has ever seen, a host of visionary tourism experts in Europe and the US realised tourism’s potential contribution to the reconstruction of the continent. The West European National Tourist Organisations created the European Travel Commission in 1948 to advocate the importance of tourism for prosperity and peace. More concretely,
