Explore children’s literature!
This course provides you with an overview of the development of Yiddish children’s literature, from the mid-19th century to today. You will learn about how leading Yiddish authors and artists created works that are still popular.
The course focuses on the cultural and ideological background of these texts and how they reflect Jewish identity. You will also explore universal themes such as childhood, generational conflicts, poverty, and violence, using historical and cultural perspectives as well as theories of childhood studies.
