The course provides the students with basic knowledge and understanding of Yiddish morphology, syntax, vocabulary, and spoken Yiddish. Students will be familiarised with basic texts, both in Yiddish and in translation, and will acquire the ability to translate short texts. An overview of the ways in which the Yiddish language has been used throughout history is also included in the course.
The course consists of the following modules:
- Grammar, Reading Comprehension and Translation
- Oral and Written Language Proficiency
- Language History
